How about this, do you think that the Pla-Dlx version is as worth as the GA-80 version? I want to complete this ST sizes and so far this on my inventory...
Popy Pla-Dlx = 0 Popy GA-80 = 3 Mattel 2in1 = 1
Thanks,

Wow. Took me a while to get mine that nice. Had to take the best of a LOT of toys, but I didn't spend 1/3 that much for the one I have. You can piece together very nice examples. Am I the only one that thinks that's a bit high?

I agree with you they are high priced, they are old but not that rare. Quick update, I have one of each already of the ST sizes, I got rid of my 2 extra GA-80, took their accessories and choose the best box/Styrofoam and bought the Pla-Delx version.

The Chogokin Hyper Mook 2 Book has price guides on it. It's Japanese so I can't understand, I'll try to scan the pages though.

There are no "price guides". Teh market changes too much to determine a settled price. It's always varying, as others have said. There are, however, good books that you can buy that will show perfect pictures of the toys, their boxes, and accessories. Some of these books have listed the original retail selling price, but again, you won't find anyone claiming to know the current exact market value of any one specimen.
The best way to determine what a specific piece is selling for is to check completed auctions. Patience is a huge factor here. I have seen a piece I am seeking go really high for a bit, then it will drop back down. The price comes back to a reasonable level, or I find one mis-listed etc. I have actually seen the interest in certain pieces go up with the price after they were discussed in depth on these boards. There are too many factors to consider to determine any set pricing for these items. It all comes down to how bad you want it, how many are currently available, and how long you are willing to wait for "your" price.
Good luck!

Thanks John! Our site does have a pretty comprehensive list, but we haven't updated it in years. www.toyboxdx.com/infolibrary/pubs/For POPY Chogokin Yuji's book is best: www.toyboxdx.com/infolibrary/pubs/yuji/bk-yuji.jpgI've got 20+ new books since Matt (I can't remember) put these up.. I/we should probably update this section at some point.. Some of these books are just as hard to find as the toys at this point. Masato's Go Nagai book for example is REALLY f**king hard to get. "The Chogokin Hyper Mook 2 Book has price guides on it. " This is asinine. I haven't really looked but that would be a huge waste of time as many have said here, the market fluctuates. For example, I've tried many times to insure my collection to no avail. It's nearly impossible. Ed and I have talked about this quite a bit and have yet to come to a solid conclusion. If there were a "price guide" I could do it tomorrow...

Yo Dylan! Didn't mean to undermine you there on the GAG book being the best reference for vintage popy. As I do agree it spans the popynica as well and has detailed lists in the back of each piece, Yuji's book on the other hand has detailed shot of boxes, accessories and the like for ONLY Popy Chogokin. Just wanted to clarify this.
I clicked on that link and realized that Matt wrote up that green arrow review in 1998.... sh*t... It doesn't seem like we've been doing this that long..

Green Arrow is great, but just recently was able to see Yuji's book in person and I will be on the lookout for it (for a better price than whats listed) - photo's are fantastic in there.

They are both good.
As mentioned, Green Arrow has the Popinica vehicles as well as the Robots/figures, but is smaller than Yuji's at about 8x5 inches. It does not show much of what was included with each piece, however. Has an original price list (useless now but for curiosities sake). Can be had for $15 or so.
Yuji's is much larger at about 10x7 inches and is much more comprehensive for accessories and with better pictures. I believe it also shows some prices but dont know if it was original prices or current (as of that time). These are listed now for $80+ but have seen them sell for $35 or so at auction if you are patient.
Which one is better? Depends what you are into and how much you can afford (or are willing to pay)- getting both would be ideal though.
