Is there any price guide we can reference for vintage robots? If not maybe the veteran collectors here at RJ can start? I'm sure this will be a good reference someday. Maybe something like how they grade comics and trading cards.

I am in no way a veteran but as far as my experience go, there is no real basis or guide for vintage chogokins. It depends on how popular or rare a particular vintage toy and also how many people with strong financial backing prying for it at a particular auction.
I have seen a Zambot combination with art box went up as high as 700.000 Yen and as low as 450.000 Yen in Yahoo Japan. Both in MIB and complete condition, both were auctioned only several months from each other
Also, I have seen Sanzen Gakeen went for 700.000 Yen and 300.000 Yen , both toys in great condition and were auctioned only matter of days from each other. I am sure of this because I won one of them ;D ;D ;D (but I am not going to tell you which one I won ;D ;D ;D)

Apologies, but is there a thread somewhere that approximately lists what kinda robots are "vintage" and what are "rare". Sorry if off topic, cheers!

On the front page of this forum the admins divided the sections to Vintage and Modern robots. So it's safe to say that if the robots appeared on TV or manufactured as a toy around 70s' to early 80s' or discontinued those are the vintage ones.

Many consider G1 transformers as vintage, while others would argue that the Diaclones are vintage and everything after that is not. I think for robots, it's generally considered that anything manufactured in 1983 (the year of Popy's absorbtion into Bandai, Takatoku's demise etc.) and prior is considered vintage. While the rest of the 80's and 90's is not really 'modern', I personally wouldn't class them as vintage (yet, anyway ).

Like in cars.... if you have an old car it doesn't mean it's vintage.. ;D
But I agree, G1 should be considered vintage...

G1's command quite a bit of money on the market, at least when the market was still a good market. I remember seeing a G1 Optimus, upwards of about $300. I can see why a purist would not consider the G1 vintage, but seeing as it is appreciated in value, I think they are great pieces regardless of nomenclature.

Ok so let's go back to the real purpose of this thread, price guides.
What if we start with Popy's GA series? Anyone?

Completed auctions seem to be the best price guide anymore, for better or worse. And even then it varies widely because items that end at true auctions may vary widely from what someone asks as a Buy it Now. For example, there are multiple boxed GA-78 Dangard Aces listed on ebay with Buy it Nows of over $300. However a boxed one in even better condition sold at normal ebay auction price recently for $69.
Now personally, I feel a GA-78 is worth more than $69 and that winner got a great deal, but that is teh power of The Market.

Ok so now we're getting somewhere. Let's start with Dangard ST (GA-78) Right now this is listed in an auction, but because of this board's policy I'm not gonna mention which auction. It's MIB and base on the pictures it looks like it's on C9 condition. How much is this worth?

Thanks Ed. How about this one, the Voltes V ST (GA-80), I have a few of this since I only collect Voltes V figures. How much if it's MIB and complete? On my personal experience, the lowest I paid for this are $76 and the highest at $160. But I see some sells this up to $300. What do you guys think?

Guessing for Popy..... $225-400 for super super perfect MIB. The premium would be for a super duper box and unflawed toy....see the spread is pretty great when you get perfection. Old toys tended to have flaws when new.

What are the original accesories that came with this? On one of them I have 2 swords and 2 extra pairs of fist, the other one has 2 swords, extra "v" hilt but no extra fist and some with only one sword but with spiral missiles. Which is the standard accesories for this?

They often have a few nicks and scratches from the factory. Then if a worker handled chrome it tarnishes.
Normally they come with 4 fists and two swords.

That's what I thought, I bought some with incomplete accessories. At least the box are in good condition.
