Daimos is one of those bots that was a pleasant surprise. I only bought it to complete the "Romantic Trilogy" (Kinda sounds like these robots are gonna serenade someone, doesn't it? ) but it turned out to have lots of appeal on it's own. It's got above-average poseability for a combiner, lots of weapons and a satisfying heft. I figured out that some of the scratches aren't really scratches. They're unpainted areas, which were either missed because it was transformed when they airbrushed it or they closed it up before it was dry & the paint stuck to the other parts. The only grievance is that it IS a bit scratch prone around the waist/groin area & maybe the shoulder area if you're not careful. But the scratches you'll likely get from that are pretty small and luckily, RJ member Roboto was able to get a pretty good paint match for a touch up: robotjapan.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=SOC&action=display&thread=12793&page=10#135858It's also kinda neat to watch Daimos on youtube after you buy it.

I would recommend Daimos as well. He has a great heft to him and the sculpt is just great. I have never even transformed mine as I am perfectly happy with him in his Robot mode. He definitely does not feel "cheap" in your hands. Not like Reideen, that feels cheap.

I'm tempted to bite... but then I'd feel urged to get the other two, Combattler and Voltes, as well. Mpff...
What do you think of the GX-31 Voltes V? Does it look closer to the old GX-03 Combattler or the revised GX-50? Sorry, I know it's a little off-topic. I'm trying to figure out if this Daimos, the GX-31 Voltes and the GX-50 Combattler would make a great trio, or if Bandai is going to throw a new improved Voltes SOC at us (probably right after I've bought the old one, lucky as I am).

There NOT going to re-design Voltes anytime soon. Remember GX-03 came out about a decade ago and is just benefiting from ten years of engineering improvements. I will say that GX-03 and GX-31 have very similar paint schemes and even paint tones and always made Daimos stand out more, while GX-50 seems to have a lighter tone than GX-03 and thus GX-31 so all three will be distinct.

Thanks! I guess I'll go for it, then. ;D
Since you're canadian as well, by chance, have you ever bought from Betatoys before? I just realized you have to contact them to get a shipping quote. But at this time, I'm probably not going to get it before the sale is over... I guess I'll place the order anyway and cancel it if they're charging too much. (From all the positive comments I've read about this store here, it will probably be fine.)

Nah never bought from them before but since their from the States and do accept Paypal I see no problems besides the usual customs ones.

I got a shipping quote from Andy. I have to say I didn't expect that, such a fast reply on a Saturday night. That's some impressive customer service. (Or maybe he just needs to get out more... juuust kiiiiddiiing! ;D )
Unfortunately, that was not the only surprise. $108 shipped is a great deal, but to have it shipped to Canada I'd have to throw in an extra $36. A $36 shipping & handling fee would be justifiable. But Americans get "free" shipping, and it seems improbable that shipping that Daimos to Canada would cost $36 more than domestic shipping. (Because there is no such thing as "free shipping". It's all accounted for in the price.)
$144 is still cheaper than the main online stores, but I could get a similar deal, even a bit cheaper, from some HK sellers. I think I'll pass for now. Give my wallet a little break.

It's probably because once they ship outside of the States it's considered International shipping and thus get's moved to a different category. Still $144 is pretty good.
