I am a shy long time reader of this forum and I finely decided to over come this thing by posting my design works here and despite the typically language problem simply asking you what do you think of these works? I hope more people come to this thread and share their work with us I searched a lot on the net to find people with the similar interest but so far no success I believe this forum is the best place for this. lots of great fanatic people around here so I start with myself I am a 27 years old product design graduate and deeply in love with Japanese super robot (well also the modern ones basically every thing that is giant and walks on two legs and has a pilot inside) My goal in life is to become an artist in the field of toy design and come up with my own blend of super robot design theme. in order to do that I still need to practice a lot of styles and material and techniques. I am also fascinated by the history of super robots and soul of chogokin (is any body know a good history book about Bandai and soul of chogokin in English that I can buy?) If you need to know more about these works you can visit my blog : manizamani.blogspot.com/(these works are pure protoypes and I do not have any plan to produce them for now)

Really like the RoseKeeper design. Quite an artsy execution of a robot concept.

Hi there basicly I design them first on paper and then its all 3D skilles nowa days every thing is possible with 3d programs you can simply upload your 3d sculpted object in one of online 3d print production companies like I do in Shapeways.com and choose your material from their list which is growing every 5 months with new materials and order them.(my favorite is steel for the moment but very expensive) and I guess this is also an ideal way to create moulds for resin casting but I am not so professional on that sector you can go and visit www.shapeways.com specially their forum, lots of good people and almost all professionals there is also a thread there for mettal post productions which is realy awsome

Hey, Welcome to RJ, zamani! ;D Man, your designs are Unique; and I'll bet you're thrilled to have them become actual poseable action-figures. It takes brilliant ideas, and driving energy, to make dreams come true. "Shapeways"... I've heard of their website, but i haven't gotten around to trying their programs just yet. I use Japanese CG modeler programs "DoGA CGA (Level 3)" and "Metasequoia 2.4.9" for rendering 3D tributes to my favorite super-robot Mazinger-Z. Looking to forward to seeing your designs out on the shelves and in fans' hands real soon! zozo-Magengar

Thank you to both of you well here is an other reason for me to post more works in this forum insted of fansy artsi erogant forums
to magengar and enyone doing 3d stuff, as long as you can save your files as (.stl) file it means your program is compatible for 3d printing the rest is realy just reading shapeways forum for more in depth ruls of printing
and I realy recomend to start printing very simple shapes and also I recoment desasembling one of your favorite robot figure to know how they are cunstructed and simply imitate them in 3d programs for example its easy to make a simplistic robot like mazinger z in 3d (creating a robot just by simple cylinders )the rest is figuring out the joint system which is the hard part but you dont need to go so far as long as you print your first work you become addicted even more addicted than collecting! I mean lets face it there is nothing more cooler than holding your own robot creation in your hand trust me its even cooler than buying the most expensive getter robo from EX fewture or any other gokin in the world!

I've heard of the technology used for 'printing' out actual models of whatever you design, models you Can actually hold in your hand like an action-figure. Some places use DXF, while others use the format you mention. I'll continue exploring Shapeways and practice using some of the programs available there, and with any luck I'll learn to export my Mazinger models to .stl format. If that becomes the case, Watch out World Here I Come! ;D zozo-Magengarrrrrrr ;D Thank you to both of you well here is an other reason for me to post more works in this forum insted of fansy artsi erogant forums to magengar and enyone doing 3d stuff, as long as you can save your files as (.stl) file it means your program is compatible for 3d printing the rest is realy just reading shapeways forum for more in depth ruls of printing and I realy recomend to start printing very simple shapes and also I recoment desasembling one of your favorite robot figure to know how they are cunstructed and simply imitate them in 3d programs for example its easy to make a simplistic robot like mazinger z in 3d (creating a robot just by simple cylinders )the rest is figuring out the joint system which is the hard part but you dont need to go so far as long as you print your first work you become addicted even more addicted than collecting! Here is my RetroroBo, this one has more super robot Damashii (spirit) in it its entirly designed and made with 3D printed stainless steel parts with the exeption of screws and bolts, Tim the pilot (also posable made in SLS) and the lether backpack weight: 420 Gr fully posable but in order to change the pose a screwdriver is needed! ya absolutly not a toy !! hope one day I can bring my creation in production

Wow, that Retrobot is AWESOME! Its name suits it perfectly, because it reminds me of Rocketman and Ultraman, and has that nice Damashii touch. The colors look really nice on him. As for posing it: hey, I would rather use a screwdriver to pose an action-figure than spend a hundred dollars on an action-figure that has loose joints. I've started playing with Meshlab and Netfab, and already have an .stl of my Mazinger's head (without the Hover-Pilder). As soon as I'm financially up to speed I'll send the .stl to Shapeways and try for an ABS Plastic head print which I can paint later on. That's great work there, keep 'em coming! zozo-Magengar
