I see this line as 'THE FUTURE" as far as Chogokin collecting is concerned.
SOC gets more and more expensive over time (I got Daitran, will get all Tobikages), and therefore with the economic crisis crazy world we have, will certainly not increase its audience.
THis line, however, for only a bit more than a revoltech, gives you a lot of bang for your buck.
As I have a limited budget, I am certainly dropping revoltech to collect this instead...

i think its too early to say that this is the future the figures look great and i've got them on order but i see these filling a gap not replacing the SOC line
Revoltechs have allowed me to collect figures that i would probably have passed over for lack of knowledge of the characters history. lots of good things going for this line
as you said the economy ...and other factors guide our spending .

Yes, it is too early to say if this line will go all the way... =)
I hope Bandai will release a wide range of robots from different series, and don't get into 'limited' or 'webshop exclusive' too much in the begining.

honestly I doubt these will replace the SOC line seeing as how these lack many of the featues of the SOCs I'm still wondering if the Brain Condor and Hover Pilder are removable from the mazingers also if Greats chestpiece is removable for his boomerang

I'm certain Bandai will be closly watching the intial response to the SRC line. I tend to think this will be a litmus test as to the future of the SRC AND the SOC lines. If this line is successful, I bet we will see a slight slow down in the number of SOC releases per year. It will not stop the SOC line -- no way -- but it will impact it in one way or another. I for one, want a full-size, regular (for example) Black Getter in the SOC line. Not a 4" tall one. But that is my opinion.

As long as it looks good and closely faithful to its original anime character, and good quality, Anything here's fine by me.
With the SRCs, my revoltechs will have sparring buddies to throw blows with, on the shelf, while I'm away. ;D

I agree with you, SOC will always be SOC, but I mean, how many $200 models can we buy every year? I have 38 models and almost all of the expensive ones. My current active collections are SOC, Bowen Designs Marvel Busts, Hot Toys 1/6, MOTU Classics and revoltech, that will be replaced by Super Robot Chogokin. Besides the budgetary problem, I also have a shelf space problem as well. Some models like my Fewture Mazinger, my Masterpiece Voltron and the Transformers Masterpieces are not even being displayed..

Well to be fair but maybe your just collecting to many lines. Plus so far this year there's been ONE high dollar SOC release which was Daitarn and before that was GX-50 and before that GX-46 so you can expect 2-3 high priced SOC's a year which has been pretty consistent for the past 10+ years the SOC line has existed. I own every regular release SOC and will probably be collecting them for the foreseeable future. Like you I collected a whole bunch of lines but I decided to streamline it to the essentials. I also collected Bowen statues and to be quite honest those are a real money pit compared to SOC's not to mention Hot Toys 1/6 scale figures, with a average price of around $150-200 that's not a cheap line to collect. At least the SOC line varies the price points, after Daitarn there will be at least three releases under a $100. As for Bandai, well they'll build $100 to $200 to $300 figures because people buy them. The gaps between might be longer but it'll be business as usual at Bandai.

... And more importantly (for Bandai), between those high dollar releases with their long development times and high production costs there will be a constant stream of cheaper merchandise they can use to smooth out the "bumps" in their profits, and keep their factory workers working at all times churning out additional product.

What's up with the Giant Rocket Punch on Mazinger?
That's the Kyoukagata Rocket Punch. It's more powerful than the Breast Fire.

I don't remember the Kyoukagata Rocket Punch being that big? Then again it's been ages since I watched the Mazinger DVDs so I could be wrong. Gold
