High Dream better come up with some awesome products now. You know, if I had my own company like High Dream, I would start crancking out Enemy Mechas in the same scale as Bandai's Super Robot Chogokin figures. I would even make them all plastic to so I could sell them even cheaper... }D Excellent point there. High Dream can take the Fans Project's route, so instead of competing head to head with Bandai's products, they're creating products that complete / compliment's Bandai's product. Nobody gets hurt, and the fans are happy ![:D](http://lemonstre.fr/robot-japan/smileys/grin.png) (as long as they are not sold as web exclusives). I remember several months back that some of the members were discussing the possibilities for a smaller, non combining, fully poseable version of Voltes V (it should still be able to transform tho, like The Chogokin / Bandai ST Chogokin version). Well, if this line is successful, I strongly believe that they will get what they want ![;)](http://lemonstre.fr/robot-japan/smileys/wink.png) . I for one do not really feel sorry for High Dream. Granted they are a much smaller business than Bandai and some of their Grendizer products have been ok, but somehow they seem to have problems to get their products released. For months there have been rumours and announcements about their Metaltech 01+. First images were supposed to be released in February but nothing happened until now (2 days after Bandai announced their SRC line, HD released a picture of a prototype). Once they get their stuff on the market, they seem to have problems in keeping their merchandise available. I was told by a friend in France that a major toy-chain sold the Metaltech 01 just before Christmas last year. Obviously, they advertised it heavily, hoping to cash in on the huge Grendizer fanbase. The entire stock flew off the shelves and (according to my info from about a month ago) there still hasn't been any restock. I tried to buy their Grendizer Eagle Patrol set (even pre-ordered it) but what my shop got wasn't enough and now the merchandise won't be back in until December! On top of that come the prices they charge. Metaltech 01's SRP in Europe was about 60€ (which is about $75 at the moment) and there are some SOCs that go for about the same amount, only the figs are bigger and better. Getting the Grendizer licence might be expensive for a smaller company but still... Anyway, now that Bandai has presented their new line which is very similar to the Metaltech line, maybe High Dream will react in a way that is advantageous to us consumers: either by making secondary enemy characters or by decreasing their prices.

Yeah, I know. I'd go with Amiami as well. I was just throwing that HLJ one in as another option in case we miss Amiami's discount deadline. ;D zozo-Magengar HLJ's got an Earlybird special on these right now. But Amiami is cheaper!!

Yeah, I wanted the next Metaltech figure to be Mazinger. However, I really doubt it would rival the Mazinger from the new Bandai SRC line. Don't get me wrong, I still would like it to see the light of day, but it doesn't have to be right now. Concentrating on enemy mechas for Mazinger Z, Great Mazinger, Grendizer and the rest of the classic robots would be the best way to go now imho.. }D

I'm thinking this will have a decent amount of diecast in these, for at least Mazinger and Great Mazinger. If you use GX-45 as a comparison the new Mazinger figure is about 15% smaller, comes with almost no accessories and costs about half as much. It won't have the same percentage as a SOC but it'll be decent, plus Mazinger is probably funding the cost of for Great Mazinger. Could also explain the huge price jump with the Altesein, Mazinger and Great Mazinger will sell in huge numbers plus it also looks like the Altesein is a more complex figure. Remember the actual cost of diecast is about the same as plastic and in some cases cheaper, it's the molds that cost more so I can easily see the two Mazinger's have a fair amount of metal since they will probably sell a buttload.
As for Metaltech I honestly don't think Bandai cares or was spurred on by it's Grendizer release they might have noticed a untapped market for cheaper Gokins by their Grendizer release but it's hard getting scared by a company that releases basically one figure a year in their new line.
But what I find funny is when I told hlpro that they had a good start and should continue the series with REGULAR releases and just ignore Bandai and it's SOC line I got blasted by him saying they don't care what Bandai does, their figure is smaller, and they'll release figures when they want. It's weird how things work out.

Yes, I saw that reply... weird!
I'm still hoping someone will find out for sure how much diecast these SRC figures will sport (not that I care about it that much to cancel my pre-order if they are all plastic). I'm just curious...

(Not intending to throw us off-topic) @ Ancer: now that you mention the Hero Collection figures, I tried looking for the mazingers HC's on ebay... some are priced outrageous, or they're becoming harder to get! I have a Getter1 HC from that line, mint. I'd gladly trade it for a Maz, or use it as a template for making plastic parts from it. ;D

I was gonna skip these cuz funds are tight but I think I'll get them just in-case I change my mind and I can't find them cheap. I don't mind the sunblock nose since it does help to differentiate it from Great but I do hope Great is taller than Maz even by a little since making them the same height is one of my biggest peeves.
I did figure out something, I'm guessing that only Maz has removable forearms and can use that firing effect since I'm assuming that there have been no pics showing Great using that effect it can't. Still I can't wait to see a eventual Grendizer release and see if it'll come with a Space Thunder effect or a Screw Crusher Punch one.

You know, now that you mention it, there are no pictures of Great Mazinger shooting of its Atomic Punch. But I thought the forearm connections were magnetic, like the regular SOCs. I also hope the Great Mazinger is a bit taller as well. It is good to know they included the "calve's fins" in this version. Good attention to detail!
