GX-04 is a must for you, bro! Get
"the Trio"!Yep. The GX-04 it is.
For now, I have my Yujin Master-Action Perfect Version Mazinkaiser.
It looks consistent in its own paintjob, is taller than the trio, and
he looks good displayed among my SOCs. So, he'll suit me fine
for the time being while I wait for a Mazinkaiser SOC.
As for the Mazinger Angels SOCs, they're beautiful... BUTT, I'd
rather avoid them. Because they're from a different perspective
along the Mazinger timeline. And, as extremely ornate as they look,
I might as well collect Bratz dolls. LOL!
As for the Boss Borot SOC, I'd love to have him... like most other
Maz fans who have the Boss and like to make funny videos of him,
I don't wanna miss out on the fun... I'd like to make funny videos
with him, no doubt. As for the Boss Borot SOC specimen,
Here's what I think of it:
Boss Borot "happened" into the SOC line, like a "Hit-n-Run Accident".
Boss is the "car" that hit and ran off, and we couldn't get his
license plate number down quick enough... he's driving around out
there laughing his ass off in his own Elusiveness, because he's
become so pricey in this hobby... no matter where you see him
being sold, it's a weird price to pay for him.
He's affordable, but Not economical; he's not hard to find,
and he's Not so easy to get. He's available when he pops
up at ebay; but many sellers won't hand him over so easily,
you almost have to fight to get him; and I've seen some
really nasty ebay auctions for the Boss Borot SOC.
I mean, really, just how "rare" and how "special" could
the Boss Borot SOC possibly be, all the sudden?
<sigh> I guess you're right; and that does seem logical.
In my case, financially, I may have to go that route.
Here's the secret to Bandai's success: TIMING.
Bandai started out in the right era, in the right region, at the
right time, with the right products.
The right Era: the Peak of the "Super-robot" tv anime genre.
The right Region: Asia
The right Time: The '70s through the '80s, at the Peak of
the super-robot tv anime genre.
The right Products: All of the super-robot/anime characters
that were very popular at the time.
Bandai saw that gateway and seized the opportunity to bank on
the market demographics in a time when popular anime tv shows
were still fresh in people's minds. The market demographic was
not just children, but Adult fans as well... the economy was fair
game back then and folks had money to spend.
Every Birthday and every Christmas Day was only 365 (or 366)
days away... so that gave fans plenty of time the rest of the
year to fool around exploring other Bandai toy products.
The good thing about That was that there were MANY favorite
robot toys to choose from and they were available at the same time.
Moving right along, Bandai followed and grew with their fanbase.
How long did that explosion last? Generally, about 10 to 15 years,
while the next generation was getting primed into the fanhood.
The distance from Father to Son (fans) is only an anime away.
Dad's favorite robot hero had become a cool toy, later on
Dad grows out of that toy and gives it to his kids; meanwhile
Re-runs of those anime shows are still blasting away on tv.
With fewer competitors at the time, Bandai had it all in the pocket.
Asia became "Bandai country", Hands Down.
That's OK. Take your time. Bandai can wait.
