The Mazinger-Z robot has always been a "self-contained" weapon. "Self-contained" meaning he had no external weapon accessories outside of his body. All of his own weapons were internal... they were usually lasers and projectiles, including the rocket-punches. His Scrander Cutter wings are also in this "contained" category because they were never used Detached from his body.
Great Mazinger was also a self-contained weapon. In addition to that, he has external weapons accessories which are the Great Boomerang, Great Booster, the Thunder Break, and his swords.
The only time Mazinger-Z ever used a sword was in the OVA "Mazinger-Z vs Ankoku Daishogun"... he was already F'ed up, lucky for him he still had one arm left.
That Lion battlebeast was charging at him, Great Mazinger drew his sword and threw it and killed the lion, while at the same time suggesting to Mazinger-Z that he use the sword to defend himself.
So, yes, it was Borrowed.

Has anyone before thought why didn't Toei make Drill Spazer in these yellowish/orange colors to match the ground media and Marine Spazer in bluish colors to match the aquarium media? I mean, for better camouflage, it's better to use blueish colors underwater not that yellow/orange bright one! What do you think?

Well... not just Toei, but almost all Japanese animation studios tend to color their robots, ships, and vehicles in bright vivid colors contrasting the backgrounds. That's what makes these objects stand out so dynamically in our minds after watching them in action. And, if I'm not mistaken, that visual eye-candy is what made us remember these Japanese anime tv shows from way back in our childhoods... what's the first thing you remember about your favorite super-robot character from those days? Its [/b]colors[/b]. ;D

So, no instrumental theme for Great Mazinger? Guys, I am looking for the original Great Mazinger opening theme (instrumental) and not the 2001 version! If you know a link for an MP3 file or a clip on YouTube, please let me know... Thanx!Mazinger ZGreat Mazinger (missing)UFO Robo Grendizer=== The 2001 versions... === For the original opening musics, I prefer (in order): Mazinger Z, UFO Robo Grendizer, Great Mazinger. For the original series themes/soundtracks (in order): UFO Robo Grendizer, Mazinger Z, Great Mazinger. For the 2001 'instrumental' themes (in order): Great Mazinger, UFO Robo Grendizer, Mazinger Z. What about you?

Dammy Dammy Dammy... ...Lookie Lookie Lookie... ...it's my 12" vinyl banpresto Grendizer (manufactured by Yamato? That's what the box sez. Year unknown, but I'm sure it's either 1990 or 1999). I got him in the mail today and took him to work with me this evening. The chefs at my job luv him! Here he is on top of my dishwasher machine, with his double Harkens, standing guard for the night. I thought this background would look cool as a "Hangar" for him. ;D zozo-Magengar

Congratulations on the new Grendy there! Yes, it is actually made by Yamato (Toycom), and I believe it was released in 2002.

La Mola! Thanks for congrats and the info, bro! I'm gonna look up their website... I hope they made some Mazingers. This Grendy looks an inch or two taller than the Le Reve Mazinger. Damn, my Le Reve Maz is in Puerto Rico right now and I miss him. I think I'll get the "white limb" anime color version Le Reve Mazinger to go with this Grendy. ;D zozo-Magengar Congratulations on the new Grendy there! Unfortunately, Yamato (Toycom) did not make any other Super Robots from the Mazinger family. Grendizer may not be super articulated, but it has an awesome sculpt. I'm sure a Mazinger Z and a Great Mazinger would've rocked!

Man, that bites... no Mazzies from that line. You're right, this Grendy's articulation is the same as that of the Le Reve Mazinger's, to give you an idea of the articulation type. His shoulders rotate 360 longitudinally (front to back). His elbows are molded slightly bent, and rotate 360. His hands (fists) rotate at the wrists. The thighs rotate at the torso, while the lower legs rotate at the knees. The feet slightly rotate, but I'm not gonna force them to turn. His head rotates at the neck and slightly tilt. The two harken blades are HUGE "metallic" blades, while the smaller white blade shapes remain molded to his body. The harkens come with the purple sectional stick that forms either the Double Harken, or two separate Harkens with spikes at the bottom ends of the handles. This sculpt is Badass, and the paintjob is to Kill for. It's THESE kinds of old '90s and '00s Mazinger-family vinyl toys that really rock my collection boat. zozo-Magengar

Thanks, bro! As I had just stated, these old Maz toys really rock my collection... I luv the SOCs and whatever modern Mazinger toys that are out there... but the Heart and Soul (Pride and Joy) of my entire collection happens to be these classic Mazinger toys from the '90s and early 2000s, ya know, I just LUV them old Banpresto Maz toys. That toy line is my vintage all-time #1 favorite. zozo-Magengar

magengar, allow me to say... CONGRATULATIONS! This Grendizer has always got my attention, and you really purchased a fine action figure. Thank you for its specs too. I am now lil' bit disappointed that his shoulder boomerangs are not removable but that's not a big deal for such a great figure! Have fun with your new Dizer! P.S. how much did you pay for it (new/used)?

Thanks, bro! As for the shoulder boomerangs, I like this look much better... I'd rather see it This way than looking at a robot body with two empty thingyts while displaying the Harkens in action. LOL I paid $30USD for it msib condition... when it arrived it was sealed in its box good as new, so I assume it's never been played with. The box art for this specimen is among the best box arts I've ever seen in a long time. And now I'm thinking about making a custom Spazer "display stand" for him. ;D zozo-Magengar magengar, allow me to say... CONGRATULATIONS!
