You forgot those robot ninja twins Blazas-S1 and S2... ...one of them managed to crack the canopy while the hover Pilder was docked in Mazinger's head. I can't remember any other times when the glass on the Pilder was shattered or broken, as I still haven't watched the entire series except when I was working on the subs. ;D As for the material the Pilders were made of, I believe they were all made of Chogokin-Z....... The hover Pilder withstood flame and other attacks during the early episodes until it later on got destroyed mid-way through the series. The jet Pilder was almost destroyed (with Koji inside) by battlebeast Piranias (episode #92). The Brain Condor sustained immersion deep inside volcanic lava, TWICE, in a Great Mazinger series episode where Professor Kabuto ordered Tetsuya to dock the Condor back into Great Mazinger who was still abandoned beneath the lava. The Kaiser-Pilder also sustained immersion when Gara-Doublas dunked Mazinkaiser deep inside volcanic lava. The Shin Mazinger Pilder... well, whatever it was made of it lasted even through some warp travel to a place where Mazinger met Zeus and Lord Hades for their 'first time encounter'. ;D The Skull Pilder... so other-worldly I don't even wanna talk about it. lol ;D The sure way to render Any of these mechas weak is by forcing their "brain" ships OUT of their heads.... ...IF the pilot lacked fighting skills to prevent it from happening. Remember: a robot is Only as good as its Pilot. zozo-mag The only material that is able to break the glass on the Pilder every time is Koji's unhelmeted head! ;D }D

Dynamic pro scanlations has released super robot retsuden its a crossover manga with jeeg, mazinger z, great mazinger, getter robo and grendizer. Its very much in the same spirit as grendizer, getter robo g and great mazinger film vs the giant sea monster but it has some impressive moments. Only thing I'm not too keen on is the space equipment the robots get but other then that it was a fun read.

I completely forgot about the broken glass/water flooding the cabin (the episode with Grengus C3) scene. Yes, there were many other scenes where the Pilder suffered canopy damage as well, I just can't memorize them off my head on instant. And I still haven't watched the entire series since I worked on the English subs last year (all that proof-reading ruined my appetite for just chilling out relaxing to watch the show for entertainment instead of "WORK" if ya know what I mean.) The only difference between "Tranzor Z" and the original series is that the U.S. studio brought the original series from Japan and edited it severely and renamed it as "Tranzor-Z"... ...so what you saw was an edited U.S. rendition of the original series. You had to have noticed tiny splices of Great Mazinger (standing on a cliff) in the opening theme of "Tranzor Z". ;D I gotta wait for my collaborators to finish up on their remastering of the Mazinger-Z series before I can post their links. That version I uploaded here last year was just a "beta" version of what my crew is working on. zozo-mag i'VE WATCHED TRANZOR Z QUITE A FEW TIMES, AND THE GLASS WAS BROKE MAYBE 4 TIMES, I DONT REMEMBER WHICH EPISODES, BUT I REMEMBER IT HAPPENING...EVEN WATER FLOODED IN ONE TIME, ALMOST KILLING KOJI !!! Not that I know off, in a Manga it did but I THINK it had some kind of space suit on.

It does in the SRW games... and in a crazy Go Nagai OVA where all the characters are SD.

In the original 1972 TV series anime, NO, he never flew outside the Earth's atmosphere.
If he did, he would've broken up and Koji would've died.
Mazinger-Z (with the Scrander) could only fly up to 10,000 ft in the sky.
At first, mechabeast Karma-K5 lured Mazinger higher... ...the Scrander wing cracked from the combination of atmospheric turbulence shock, and Karma-K5's electromagnetic thunder attack.
Even after repairs and upgrades throughout that series Mazinger-Z never flew above nor beyond his flight limits.

actually it was 20,000 feet with the old scrander, and with the improve one he was able to fly to 60,000 feet. he pretty much stayed same altitude during the Great mazinger saga as well, just the scrander got a bit faster by .5.
Now the Toie Mazinger Z never reached to space, but it seems his other incarnation Shin Mazinger was able to if he wanted though.

Ehhhh... well, I think they went too much overboard with trying to make a modern Grendizer. It looks like a Boss Borot rendition of it. Sometimes too much of a cool thing is not a good thing, and that is what just happened with that Grendizer design. }|
