Interesting. Nagai has indeed drawn some influences from Greek mythology, especially for the Mazinger robots. Then he went for the "viking" and "barbarian" style, combined with a little bit of "John Woo" gun-slinging in the Mazinkaiser SKL oav flicks. zozo-mag It was more about just finding a cool monster name, the Mazinger family has always had that "demonic" connection with the whole power of a God thing to fighting underworld monsters and stuff. So take a name, give the robot giant "devil horns" and a weapon that looks like the grim reapers sickle on steroroids lol and there you go. Even in the story Grendizer is suppose to be inspired by the Fleedian God of War so its always had that dark side. But yeah Nagai did have a lot of influences and the ideas he came out with are impossible to know how he came up with them. Pure genius. If you want to get even more existential you can say the Getters were influenced by the Holy trinity from Catholicism. Were three become one, separate but united but that would be stretching it lol.

or worst ending for the civilians thanks to duke fleed, which is interesting because grendizer shouldn't be able to remove the pilder.

Happened to Mazinger Z, so theoretically Grendizer should be able to do it to Mazinkaiser. Although I doubt Koji would let that happen, also it looked like lightening was either coming out of Grendizer's crotch or hitting him in it lol. Also Grendizer was suffering the same forearm blade problem as the SOC lol.

Well I never said the Pileder would be in one piece and as far as I know the Pileders and Brain Condors aren't made of Chogokin-Z and if they are the armor thickness is nowhere near what the robots are. But like I said Koji probably wouldn't let that happen. But I always did think that was a design weakness all Mazingers have, if you keep the ships from docking then you can pretty much make the robot useless. And even if they do dock your exposed in a ship on top of the head protected only by glass or whatever it is. This goes for all SR where they basically just look out a giant window to see what's going on, looks cool but leaves the pilot exposed.

the pilders are made of the same material as the mazingers, if this wasn't the case then the Kaiser pilder when it connect with Mazinkaiser in mid air in the movie it would totally get pulverize on impact. but true the issue they had is how they connect in and how secure they are, Mazinger Z's Hover Pilder is an example of not having a well secure system to protect him if some monster decides to pull the pilder out while on Kaiser it was improve to remove that problem.
now is true that all the Mazingers share the same weakness, they need a ship to dock in, but it is also there greatest assets. If the enemy where to steal any of the Mazingers they would need the Pilders to control them perfectly, now they could make another device to control them without the pilders (like in Mazinkaiser OVA when ashura was controlling Mazinger Z) but it would kinda of a time consuming and not been efficiently compatible like the real deal, they would move kinda wonkier and slow. As oppose to say for example grendizer that pretty much the controls are right there so they have accesses to it pretty much.
But i agree that most Super Robots share the same window concept leaving them expose to any danger no matter where it is. but it is by far more effective on combat since if they had only monitors as your way of vision and in some way or form the monitors stop working then your pretty much screw. If i recall i think in one of the episode of Getter Robo they had this issue and the Getter team never again went to use the monitors because of it.
but what i find it ridiculous is that if and explosion with a force of an atomic bomb happens the window in there cockpits doesn't even crack, but when it gets hit or is been hit by an object that is implementing force whether is a hand or a giant saw then you see it breaking.
now that is ridiculous.

It's probably why most if not all Gundams have the pilots in the most secure area of the robot, inside the chest area. Like I said it looks cool being able to see the pilot in the robots head or whatever, but not really practical from a protection standpoint these are giant robots shooting lasers and wielding giant swords and stuff. I'm guessing it's from the idea of jet fighters and that's like their canopy.

The only material that is able to break the glass on the Pilder every time is Koji's unhelmeted head! ;D
