So how often do you guys re-watch these series?, I am thinking about re-watching all of them in chronological order, it's been a while since I've watched these shows and I am pretty sure there are a few things I've forgotten about. It's going to take me a while to re-watch all that thou, family and kids plus work etc. Also while I have the entire Mazinger Z and Grendizer series in DVD quality, I've never managed to get a hold of Great Mazinger in a decent quality with japanese voice and english subs.

I would like to watch the Mazinger-Z series as often as possible, just to keep refreshed of why I like that series in the first place. But even now, I get distracted by other daily routine things and I still can't even get past the first 10 episodes of that series!!! lol! zozo-mag

Now the big question is, which Mazinkaiser do you prefer; the ultimate robot built by Jūzo Kabuto, or the evolved Mazinger Z exposed to Getter rays?

Although I like Mazinkaiser SKL, I like the Juuzo Kabuto Mazinkaiser even more.

I'm not talking about SKL, I'm talking about the regular one.
The Getter-evolved Mazinger is the "original" Mazinkaiser.

^ Can you post some pictures of the 2 Mazinkeizers?, also it's been a while since I watched Mazinkeizer and I don't remember Getter rays being involved with him

I'm enjoying the hell out of the Shin Mazinger ZERO manga. Its version of koushiryoku energy is now basically yellow Getter energy making Mazinger Z overpowered (regeneration, self-upgrade, "quantum immortality", etc.). I like the "quantum immortality" ability. Basically, every possible scenario will have a victory for Kouji and Mazinger Z, and that victory scenario is the only one that counts, kinda like when you get a game over then load the game again and again until you beat it. SMZ Kouji is a cyborg in the style of Hiroshi Shiba from Koutetsu Jeeg. In the latest chapter, Mazinger Z, in what seems to be "Majin mode", defeats Ankoku Daishougun by simply shoving him aside. ^ Can you post some pictures of the 2 Mazinkeizers?, also it's been a while since I watched Mazinkeizer and I don't remember Getter rays being involved with him It's the original version of Mazinkaiser designed by Go Nagai in 1997 for the Super Robot Taisen F game. Mazinger Z is repaired and upgraded into Mazinkaiser by Getter energy. It's generally considered to be more powerful than OVA Mazinkaiser. In the game, the Evangelions and Angels are scared sh*tless of it (and the manga version of Shin Getter Robo).

I see now. I never realized there was more to Mazinkaiser besides the 2000 OVA series. And, to be honest, I never followed any of the SRW games nor the mangas... so Those aspects about "evolved Mazingers" and Getter ray stuff had always been unknown to me.

A few years ago I tried to read the Shin Mazinger Zero manga. But it felt too weird for me to digest, the spiel about 'regeneration' and Koji being a cyborg or whatever, and Minerva X showing up as a young cyborg girl. So many "alternate world" storylines in those mangas... Even commenting about it right now just throws me off track. lol I do like the artwork in those mangas; but I really don't wanna get deeply involved with the stories.
I'll stick to the animes.

Yeah I am in the same boat, I have only watched the animations but I know nothing about the Manga nor the SRW lore It's called "doing research". Personally I prefer the Getter rays version. Not because it's stronger, but because the Getter Mazinkaiser IS Mazinger Z. That way it doesn't get to make Mazinger Z lame in comparison by having both exist at the same time

You're right, that sounds way better for Mazinkeiser's origin, I didn't like the fact that in the OVA's Juzo Kabuto build both Mazingers and that Mazinkeiser existed and remained hidden during all this time only to be discovered by accident when more powerful enemies arose. Regular Mazinger exposed to some kind of transformation and undergoing some heavy modifications would have been way better, after all that was one of Mazinger's best features he was upgradable.

I prefer OVA Mazinkaiser to the original. I simply like the former's overall design better. The SRW games, specifically the Alpha series, now use the OVA design for the original Mazinkaiser. They also do this for Shin Getter Robo, using the OVA/Armageddon design but with the original/manga colors.
Also, I like having both Mazinkaiser and Mazinger Z in an SRW game since I can put Boss, Nuke and Mucha in the latter.

Boss piloting Mazinger Z? This I gotta see.

That was the beauty of Mazinger Z. Anyone could pilot it. Koji did, Sayaka did, Count Broken did. Same with Great Mazinger. With the Mazinkaiser(s) it was a different story thou. But I prefer the Ankoku Daishougun OVA version of Mazinkaiser. Unlimited infinite Power and totally Indestructible! }D

It's been a while since I've played so my memory may be rusty but I think some SRW games allow the player to have Sayaka, Boss, Tetsuya and Jun pilot both the original and OVA Mazinkaiser.

So sad that due to the crazy complexity of licensing so many Super Robots the SRW never made it to the west, there was a very nice Dreamcast game that was indeed released in the North American market that was truly an awesome super robot game, it's name was Tech Romancer, I still hope Capcom make a sequel for PS3 or PS4
