Yeah, I'm not fond of the SRW stuff. It deviates way too much from the actual Super Robot characters stories. Nope, other than the SRWOG, the SRW universe just doesn't exist for me. }D

Well booooo! to you then! I don't play SRW games and I can't deny the awesomeness of the shameless crossover potential, like Elpeo Ple taking after Domon, Noriko being a Getter fangirl and the Xabungle characters idolizing Boss and Borot

So sad that due to the crazy complexity of licensing so many Super Robots the SRW never made it to the west, there was a very nice Dreamcast game that was indeed released in the North American market that was truly an awesome super robot game, it's name was Tech Romancer, I still hope Capcom make a sequel for PS3 or PS4 Capcom owns all the characters and mecha in Tech Romancer / Choukou Senki Kikaioh, so they have no problem licensing it.

I like Super Robot anime, but that doesn't make me have silly child-like preferences. }D

@ TMZ: We ALL have silly child-like preferences, that's why we joined this hobby in the first place! There's NO place like RJ, so just click your heels three times and repeat to yourself: " Recommended for ages Me, and Up" zozo-mag

What I meant is that I don't like silliness for silliness sake. The most I can tolerate in an anime, is something like Boss Borot in the original Mazinger Z anime. But even in Great Mazinger, Boss Borot was way too silly for my taste. Some folks like that kind of stuff, but I'm not one of them. Hell, I don't even like Goku in DBZ because he is just way too silly... and he is supposed to be the anime's main character! Oh well, enough said on my part. Let's bring this back to the canon stuff. }D

LOL... I hear ya. Sometimes TOO MUCH silliness can be embarrassing.
Moving right along...
I'm glad that Mazinkaiser came later on in the time line, because Koji would never know what to do with it and he would've been killed instantly inside that robot. Mazinger-Z was so simple to operate that every battle was a crash course lesson for Koji. With that in mind, Koji had a real cause for war which gave him the determination to learn how to operate Mazinger-Z so quickly.

Like when I was watching the Mazinkeiser OVAs for the first time, I was really exited to watch something new from Mazinger Z and then I saw the beach episode when they take their robots to beach plus all that silliness tan ensued and then I was like:

I guess not everyone can appreciate the finer nuances of the super robot genre.
Like someone once remarked, "You don't grow out of super robots, you grow INTO them."

So what's the general consensus here on MOEZINGER?
Baron Ashura's BOTH sides being female strikes me as all kinds of wrong.

I'm from Finland.
I didn't see Mazinger Z until last year, actually - and even then, I started with Shin Mazinger for some reason. I watched Z, Great, Grendizer as well as the Getter Robo shows and the crossover movies between them afterwards, as well as reading the Z manga, I'm planning to watch Shin Mazinger again sometime in the near future now that I'm much more versed in the Mazinger and Go Nagai canon.

Cool, that's a country I would like visit one day, it's the first time I see someone who likes Mazinger that started with Shin Mazinger, me, like many others started the Mazinger love affair as kids since I grew up watching the animation on TV, let me tell you I love original Mazinger but I must be one of the few that thought Shin MAzinger wasn't bad, I actually like it better than the Mazinkeiser OVAs. Can I ask you something? I am missing a few episodes from Great Mazinger to complete my collection, I only have 1 to 26 with subs and the entire series in RAW (Just Japanese), you said you have watched all Mazinger animations/sows there are so, do you know of any englishg-friendly Great Mazinger version? what version did you watch? Thanks!

There aren't any. I actually watched Great raw because my OCD wouldn't allow me to watch Grendizer without finishing Great first, and there's no telling when I would get my hands on some subs for it. I even machine-translated some Spanish sub files for a select episodes I thought really needed it, but even those only went up to episode 40.
I guess we'll just have to wait for either Discotek to license Great as well, or someone to rip the SRT discs.

lol I feel your pain, I have the first 26 episodes from Great Mazinger exelent quality with English subs, let me know if you want them. the rest it's easy to find on the internet. I am also subtitling all the crossover movies, I have them in blue ray quality with an incredible high resolution, check my youtube channel on my sig for some examples.
Cheers.

I'm pretty sure msubs only did the first 21 episodes, not 26 - and they're apparently not planning to sub any more in case, like I said, Discotek releases Great after they're done with Z.
Speaking of which...when the hell are the preorders for the first box set gonna open?

I'd offer to organize, and translate the Great series, from any of the subs already there, plus from the Spanish subs... but I don't have the hardware to do all that work as quickly as possible. I'm trying to upgrade my desktop machine so's I can at least get on with that project (need more disk space for the Raws, plus room for the subbed modified episodes after the work is done). Keep me in mind if someday I can help put out a polished English subbed version for the Great Maz series. Here's a sample of the quality of my work... ...either I do it alone, or any help and collaboration would be appreciated, as long as we can finally have the Great Maz series with good English subs I'm in if I can help. zozo-mag

That's great work Magegar, and you're right, the problem about subtitling all these series is the time it takes and the time you have to commit to do it, time many of us don't have.
It's good news Diskotek is about to release Mazinger Z, I believe this it's the first time for the North American market, and a great opportunity for NA to finally know the true Mazinger Z in all its 92 episodes glory.
