True ! I grew up with all of his comics book. In France and Europe, he is one of the great comic book pioneer. He first start with some creepy stories inside Métal Hurlant, the Comic book magazine he created with others great artists. Then the american version became Heavy Metal for us market.
He got 3 artist jobs at the same time : - Jean Giraud is his real name and he used to draw a cowboy comic book saga named "Blueberry" : strong drawings with wonderfull composition. Epic. - at the same time he start a unique and new style : science fiction thematic with pure and perfect line art. Mastering style ! - so he moved to LA to work on several movies as designer : All costumes for Tron and Alien, creature design for James Cameron's Abyss... and many more.
With Alejandro Jodorowsky on scenario, they created a 5 opus comic book science fiction saga : "INCAL". Mature, strong and epic ! Perhaps the major SF adventure of all times : ihmo, beats (easy) Star Wars. (science fiction vs space Opéra) Try this comic book it's awesome !
2 years ago, there was a big exhibition at Cartier fundation about his whole career : the Catalog book from the exhibition is a great artbook. If anyone is interested in this, I can make a review of it and also present his major books (I got allmost all of them). Then I can also order the exhibition book (huge !) and send it to people who really want to have this true masterpiece.
He is a great artist from the 20st century, a legend. He gives me so much motivation to keep on drawing.

Jean Giraud was an otherworldly being...
Way past human reach.
I was lucky enough to meet him in Naples in 2007, at a comic book convention. That day, there was a hell of lot of people running around to get to meet Steve Niven (those were Civil War days) and Go Nagai, who were both attending the convention... In the midst of the turmoil, I turned around to see this man, whose eyes gave out all the peace and serenity in the world. He was Moebius. Sitting alone at a table, anyone hardly noticing him...
I got to the desk where he was sitting, introduced myself and politely asked him for an autograph. He went on to do a drawing for me, in colour (albeit just a little splash) without even having to ask.
We chatted away some 15 minutes about life, fear art and comics. He was, as I said, otherworldly. The few words he said to me are forever etched deep inside me, and I kid you not, each and every day since then his words resonate in my head every time I have to draw or lay out something...
One of my most precious memories.
à bientôt, Maître.

Word. The wife of a friend was in charge to install respectfully his works and masterpiece for the exhibition, to restore his old works and comic boards and insure they are properly in good condition. She went several time to his workshop to manage with him the works selection. She told me like you he his a very nice personn allways having pleasure to chat. Here is the website from his past big exhibition : MOEBIUS TRANSE FORME www.moebius-transe-forme.com/I met him at the exhibition premiere : just congratulate him for his work with a "bravo for what you achieve and succeed". I grab some pictures to let you have an idea of this : the artist posing in the main hall : In the main hall, there was a long window-table, curving like a snake following chronology with a lot of his comic works and covers : incredible and awesome. Check some review here : www.actuabd.com/Moebius-transe-forme-Giraud-a-lawww.lesdiagonalesdutemps.com/article-pour-se-souvenir-de-moebius-transe-forme-a-la-fondation-cartier-entre-autres-101872310.html

Wow I like the head sculpt, less blocky and more curves... It's transform from a train ? Would love to see the transformation

Thanks. I didn't have time to create a real transformation. So transformation sequence is just an animation with a train who's getting dislocated... I have to prepare my galleries for each robot (4) including artworks, 3D meshes and WIP.

That Freightbot looks awesome, I like the design. I have seen CG mechas by other artists, and sometimes they go overboard making the armor too glossy or shiny. The armor surface on your mecha here looks perfect, not too shiny and not too dull; the colors and texture looks tastefully vibrant and easy on the eyes. That mecha looks very believable the way it's transforming while moving along the tracks; and it blends seamlessly into the background scenery like it's Really Really there! Looking forward to see the finished production, keep up the good work! zozo-mag

Thanks Tony,
The commercial is allready done (last january), but it's only an internal material... I have to render a video version for web diffusion (portfolio only). The teaser videos were quick made (filming my screen with iPhone) ^__^ My schedule is overload : I am working as lead designer (creatures, props, fx...) for a full CG cartoon (airing in september on TV), also working for upcoming pre-production movies... So I will probably upload my galleries with all 4 robots in june.
aaaaaah... no rest...
