Opened my S.H.MonsterArts Biollante this weekend, and its a pretty impressive piece (has good mass and take up a lot of space). Not going to dig too deep into this line, and this is my first so far, and I like it quite a bit. Had always wanted a Biollante since I collected a few of the Bandai vinyls back then, but couldn't get myself to pay the aftermarket price for it. Skipped a number of years, and they finally made a better Biollante figure (still heck of pricey though), so I am happy with that. But after collecting some Papo dinosaurs figures at $20-30 a pop(they look stunning), the sculpt and detail on the S.H.MonsterArts Biollante doesn't seem to be as detail as I hoped for. The details on the head is pretty fine, but the rest of the body is a bit soft & blurry, sculpted details sometimes not as sharp as some vinyls either. The paint job is decently nice, but not something that would wow me (doesn't match up to high end vinyls). But given that is the standard of these articulated action figures, I am ok with that and glad to have a Biollante with articulations and light gimmick. Might get a Godzilla to keep her company at some point.

Not much time for pics lately (always dark when I got home after work). But the articulation on Biollante is pretty fun. The slide up back didn't gain too much to extend a longer neck, but the tentacles are awesome with a lot of range. The segments do come off every now and then, but not because they are loose. Just the nature of them all being double ball joints on each connection. They are quite tight overall. And you should move them by slightly bending and twisting the curved segments, rather than like bending an arm of a figure. Doing it right, and you'll have less popping off and get a lot of display options. I just wish they have added another 2 more tentacles (don't even mind if they are shorter and smaller). Having just four doesn't feel quite as epic as it looks in the movie. I can only wish...
Overall, I'll give it a 8/10. You'll enjoy it if you know what to expect and don't mind the high price. From what I can tell, it doesn't have any design flaws like I heard King Ghidorah has. Pieces stay in place if you don't bend it out of their limits. Just need to be patient and slowly twist segments around while adjusting them. Not having sharper sculpt in some areas and not having additional tentacles are my only gripes. And since it is Biollante and doesn't get a toy treatment often, it is kind of a special case and a easy purchase for me.

Just picked up a loose little Godzilla on eBay for 26.00 shipped. Works for me.
also if anybody has a box and inner plastic tray for this figure they don't want let me know.
edit: 01/29/2014
Little Godzilla arrived and its cool, glad to have him. He looks great next the '64, '94, and '00 Godzillas. I want MOGUERA, after that i may get Destroya, not gonna get Biolante.

By now everyone has seen the images for NECA's Godzilla 94 and maybe 95. Has anyone seen an official image for the 2014 yet? The 94 looks ok in the body area but the head sculpt isnt as nice as I would like The color is more blue than green. I have ordered the 3 upcoming NECA Godzillas. I want to see if they are as well sculpted and if they have better or equal in articulation to the SHM figures.

If this is close to what its gonna look like, then I don't have high hopes on NECA Godzilla figures. NECA tends to give a halfass effort in their figures but keep them at an affordable price for a wide audience (look at their Pacific Rim stuff especially). So I wouldn't go anal on sculpt & colors on them. They are sort of the blister pack TF toys, like affordable toy crack so to speak. That 2014 Godzilla look soooo stiff (even if I am not commenting on its design). For articulation, I'll go for SHM line and stick with that. For suit accuracy, the X-Plus 25cm or 30cm vinyl line is the way to go. But they do cost an arm and a leg if you don't know when and where to start looking. If 2014 Movie is a success, I don't see why X-Plus & SHM won't jump on making figures for it. So what I would suggest is pick a figure or two (be it NECA or something similar) to quench your toy thirst for the moment, and save the big bucks for the higher end figures that will most likely come later on. I got myself a X-Plus 30cm Gamera 1999 for a couple months now, and still can't stop staring at that thing. All my other cheaper Godzilla figures pales in comparison (even the pretty nice SHM Biollante is no match).

I am interested on the Mothra Larva, but not so much on Battra Larva. So its an unfortunate pass for me (since Mothra Larva is more of a large accessory for Battra in that set). Bandai has been pretty tricky/smart in their SHMA releases, only including effects parts or major accessories in the less popular figures to boost sales, even if you want the accessories more than the main figure in most cases.

just opened the Alien figure - same is issue as everyone else with the Tail- even with this its a great figure of an alien. I had the revoltech (sold it awhile back) This SHM is better than those figures easily.

Bandai is gonna reissue the ShMonster Arts Godzilla figure in July (AKA 2.0). This version instead of using the original mold its gonna use the Burning Godzilla mold but painted in the color of his basic form. So for those that miss the first figure now have a chance to get it and a better version at that. From my understanding it seem people where asking for that version since it is more accurate to the movie. from what i understand as well, while this figure will be know as Godzilla in the package, in his info will be also know as Adult jr.

I'm gonna pass on this one. I got the Battra recently and was a bit underwhelmed by it. I don't think I'm gonna continue buying these after the Battra & Mothra Larva set comes out. I think the only way I would, is if they release Megalon and Jet Jaguar. }D
