I did hear that chicks were into guys collecting and building their own toys this year. The wood is just stained regular old pine. I have been working on the 2 X 2 platen this afternoon. Need a couple parts to finish up and round the corners. Things are starting to come together on the ferarri vacuum machine. Soon, (most likely August) I should be getting the ship sculpted and order some thin plastic this week for the coming first pieces for trial test fits and sizing. And then go thicker. So, maybe by early September, I will have something to show, I am hoping.

Sherman set the Way Back Machine for 1975.
That thing, even if it did nothing at all, looks impressive.
Ah the things we do for our toys!
So does she make pancakes for breakfast?

I am very, very close to firing up the overbuilt vacuum forming machine. I have the vacuum cleaner motor and vacuum pump plumbed in and gave the palm of my hand some hickies from testing out the platen hole to see if everything worked like it should. Ran some new 10ga household wiring for the 30amp 220volt outlet and breaker. Got the plug wired to the cord going to the big machine. Since it was getting late and I need to add and finish up some ground bonding to the chassis and the heater panels, I didn't plug the heater power in yet to feel the hot glow. Better to make sure the machine has proper and good safety grounds. Tomorrow, I should be getting in my order of various thicknesses of 24" square styrene sheets. Not sure what I will toss on the platen for the first test piece. Took longer than I had planned to get built. I blame the hot, long hot Spring/Summer entirely for keeping me out of the shop too much

After some orders to finish and send out, am hoping the temperatures will be nicer to start work on sculpting. But, August is usually the hottest month of the Summer, and I haven't even thought about any new Halloween projects to work in as well.

Hey guys,
I am new to the forum, and glad to be here! I need a shooting fist for Daimos (original or repro) and stickers for Daimos. Anyone know where I can get them? Thanks!

Shoot me a private message and I can see when I can work a repro for you. About the only way to get an original, would be to buy a complete Daimos.

Here is the very first piece vacuumed on my up and running vacuum forming table. This was some .06" thick styrene.
A good practice piece, and made it easy to see what spots need a little adjusting on the original basic shape before adding and building onto it and a partial test fit/trim to know what and where to carve out of the original bust for the front area.

A couple update photos. I got the lower hull formed up, and wanted a snug fit, but is maybe a little too tight. I plan to tweak it, and add about 1/2" more depth which should be allow fit better without trimming as much and trying to squeeze in. And give a little better symmetry, as looks a little flat for the lower hull.

Here is with my Grendizer placed into the first test fit pieces. The 1/8" styrene used with the lower hull vacuum form seems pretty good for strength and won't need to get in or try 3/16" stuff. I am going to be ordering some 1/8" ABS which should be a little stiffer and have some gloss on the plastic. The styrene plastic has too much of a matte finish.

This look really promising, and really curious and impatient to see the evolution of this project (and excited too of course) I guess you can vacuum form almost all the pieces of the spazer. Thanks for the picts.

Oh man is looking promising. For a minute that lil picture had me fooled!
Need to work up some decal sheets for this.
Wish someone with a real one would photograph some interior close ups.
