Boy that sure would be a nice feature for those of us whom want a Spazzer to go along with Our Golderizers. Otherwise it will look like he has his head down is shame as he's zooming along in his ship.

On the neck joint. You both are talking about the very top piece which holds the head piece pins in place. Correct? I started some work on it last night and had to be careful with the part so it would not chip away more. I may beef up the front area a little, for more strength on the copy. Here is the first piece from the Grendizer neck piece mold. I made it with some of my harder urethane resin that takes a couple days to cure for hardness. Tried to make it a purple/black, but looks pretty much black. YUMMY!!!! Great job, thank you so much !!! Do you think that the color could be fixed for next ones? When will be available to buy?

Don't tempt me. But, I really don't feel like painting heads. I know that is about the last thing to practically make the european Goldorak version look like the japan Grendizer version. And I have placed the head back onto my Grendizer, so can't mold it now I'll paint the heads. I'll make spray templates and do them like originals were done with a little over-spray here and there... Should be a fairly easy process to streamline and simplify to paint like 5-10 a week during evenings. ~Will

Thought I would quick share some good progress on my vacuum forming machine that is based off this person's design. www.build-stuff.com/1002plans_proto-form.htmIt is overkill, but in the end, it will be a really nice machine for whenever needed. Here is a quick photo of where I am at currently. I need to get the heaters in, wiring, controls, and vacuum plumbing. A ways to go, but the main machine mechanics are done.

Nice nice.
I've see lots of people going for the "cheap" version using a reglar oven and a rectangular wood surface with little holes and a vaccum under. Nice results they had with this.
Looking forward to see what you will output with this.

I have seen some videos with some quicker setups and produced nice parts. But, I am gonna be quite happy once I get this machine built for always being ready to go. And if I want to mold some thick plastic, it should handle it easy.

bourno, that is pretty darned fancy, but i sort of expected that. great work. far nicer than the one i made. my 2' x 2' V-former is the bare bones basic platen with holes in it. i used an electric fireplace for the heating unit, but my oven is easier to use, so no one can cook at home on saturdays and sundays. my gf has choice words for my robot parts when they get caught between her toes in the house.

Yeah, I thought I needed a top of the line "home-built" machine. But, after seeing this video recently and the draw depth he got with a pretty simple setup, that the plans I got, are overkill. I may expand the heaters to 2x3 in the future as I built the structure for 2x3, but only got heaters for a 2x2 area. I do believe I will like the machine a LOT for ease of use.

small world! i got the push to do it from the same x-robots video. he has a bunch of good videos. i dont think yours is overkill at all. you have the space in your workshop for it so why not a self-contained unit. it will serve you well for a long time, im sure.

I'm stuck with doing it the ol' "caveman" primitive way:
A board with holes in it; an octopus underneath; and a blow-torch on top. ;D

magengar, that is the true artisan way! kudos! my studio is starting to get outfitted with the right tools, but im still as primitive as can be. sometimes i go as low to use cigarette lighters on PVC pipe to make robot parts. and it sometimes yields the results i expected. vacuum forming is so nice because you get to feel like a king. "i will this object to be duplicated!" and within seconds it is done.

I think I'll practice with a scrap empty 2liter soda bottle plastic, laying a computer mouseball onto the plastic and blowing a heat gun at it until the ball sags the plastic deep enough to at least make a "dome" bubble shape.
If it works, I'll try making a canopy for my hover pilder model. ;D

Hey bourno, what ever happened with the casting of the Popy greindizer legs? You posted a picture but no follow up. I was just wondering.

I did make one roto-cast of the mold and then it has just been put off and off for anything further. This Spring and Summer has been very busy for my day job, and like many parts of the U.S. my area has been quite hot and dry. So, going out to a very warm shop isn't as appealing for doing things either.
I have been trying to get my 3 month behind schedule Vacuum table more completed. Have some wiring to finish on it and into the breaker box, then get a platen built for it.

The control panel for it.
Will have Main control power, heat control, heater override, then high vacuum pump, regular vacuum motor. The valve will let me open the high vacuum access after the regular vacuum motor sucks the initial air out. Got a small platen relief valve, and one gauge for the platen and one gauge for the vacuum tank.
