That's cool! If the "paint" had a more uniform color vs. the battle scarred look, I think it would look stellar. Wouldn't mind bigger wings also... but the proportions of the lions and how the geometry is formed is awesome.

HOLY CRAP THAT IS AWESOME LOOKING!
if i where to say what i don't like about it is that voltron's lips are painted blue, i would prefer not having it painted but nevertheless that is a awesome interpretation of Voltron hands down.
the person who made that has mad godlike skills period.

Can you imagine how much our brains would explode if a company rolled out one that looked like this? Seriously. This makes the Mattel one look like like ::censored::

It looks good, but it is not the real voltron, just a concept of it, like the fewture mazinger and getter, so there is no comparison to the mattel one, or any other voltron from the cartoon. It actually reminds me a lot of dancougar.

There is another "totally objective" review of the Mattel Blue Lion by Atom in CDX. Go check it out... if you care. }D

while i do see why his not impress, i do agree in some points. My friends has received his Blue Lion with Allura and he has some issues with it:
- paint application is sloppy, at least for what i seen in the lions nose, right eye, and the red paint line on its back. - Allura is missing her left eyes. - the spring mechanic gimmick to transform it into lion mode is not working, it clicks in place but the button does nothing (he doesn't know if he considered it as a blessing or a curse because he paid a lot for it). - head rotates but there is no sign of any ratchet in it. - the blue key does not have the sticker.
to be honest, the blue lion seems to be the worst of all, he already send an email to mattel for a replacement. ill keep you posted of the event.

TheMazingerZ as droutmaster said there are issues with this toy. Thus far each one has shown what would seem to be MAJOR issues for something so expensive. I am guessing that you do not like Atom but I can totally understand his disgust.
Let me ask. Do you have these? If so have you had issues?
I do not have them. I saw them at SDCC and was pretty nonplussed with their quality. With what I have seen, and the reviews here and by Atom I am happy I did not get this.

I haven't had any issues with any of mine. They are pretty cool In fact. Love how everyone who doesn't have one is writing the bad reviews of it. Just trying to justify your missing the subscription perhaps?

I have aii four so far and no issues. I understand Atom's lion are not assembled amd painted the way he would like them to be - by a master modeler, but his continuous b*tching about these has gotten out of control. Nothing wrong with reporting the flaws of the toy, as long as you also report the good things. It is a supposed to be a "professional" review anyway...

I think that when the black lion is released a lot of the haters complaining will go silent. What are they going to say about a transformable and articulated 2 feet tall Voltron that comes with two blazing swords and all the pilots to go with it?

Can someone tell me what is good about these then besides the height? The face sculpt looks horrid in my opinion and the paint apps I saw for the ones at SDCC (IN THE DISPLAY CASE) looked sloppy. For the amount of money being dropped on these I would expect more. Maybe I am just grrr at Mattycollector (they are pretty much the biggest AHOLES you will ever deal with at SDCC) or maybe I am just grrr because I am not getting these. I really would like to know what good outweighs the issues being mentioned.

I for one, I am getting pretty sick and tired of Atom's and other haters constant bashing of this toy. I get it! You hate Matty Collector's customer service. You hate the fact that the "Made in China" label was placed at the wrong place. You hate that the paint, fit and finish are sloppy, etc, etc, etc. Guess what, you are beating a dead horse.
I have all the lions, and although they are not perfect, I do not have the "quality issues" that he seems to have with every single lion. I got the subscription because a 24 inch combining jumbo Lion Voltron appealed to me. It is a toy, and not a $500+ Fewture figure that you get from an specialty online store, which by the way also has quality issues that could be considered to be worse. Although I agree that this is a product that could be purchased from a toy store, but it is what it is.

First off the size. You can play with them and move them around without fear of breaking them. Pretty much everything that makes people like JM's. Yeah small diecast stuff will be better detailed, more features, etc, but that didn't stop JM's from becoming popular as well. They were rarely anime accurate either. Matty is not all bad, I like what they are doing better than going to Target and seeing 17 pegs of the figure nobody wanted and never finding the shortpacked figure that everyone wanted but only 2 people in the world seem to get.

I don't mind those insignificant QC issues that can easily be fixed by even a kid. Sloppy paint apps? Get some paint and fix it! Decals placed wrong? Get a damn hair dryer, heat up the decal, peel it off, and place it as you like. Painted plastic instead of colored plastic? Yeah, so??? Wrong lion photoshopped in the box art? Give m a freaking break! This giant combining action figure is going to be awesome, as long as it holds well together. I really like my Fewture Ryoma Mode Black Getters, but they are so touchy feely that I would never "play" with them. As a matter of fact, thy have been secured to their display base and they can't come off unless you use a screwdriver. And how about the Bandai Jumbo Shin Mazinger? I got that one too, and it was not cheap. It was actually about the same price as this Voltron Subscription once the shipping was added in. It is not as artculated, it has no pilot, and while the details and finish are excellent, it is basically a statue that shoots it's fists. That is not going to be the case with this Voltron. This one was designed to be a toy... to be played with! ;D }D
