The problem that I have with Atom's reviews is the way he constantly rants about the defects of each Lion. You can review a toy, points its negatives and do not sound like an A$$hole. Why is it then that Mattel is being always described as a sh*tty company, while we have Fewture/Artstorm which releases $500-$600 adult collectible figures with worse quality issues, faulty Shing Getter wings, and the reviewers even at CollectionDX are not attacking the negatives as they do at Mattel. Talk about double standards. And it seems that CollectionDX is now deleting posts that disagree with the reviewer, which is becoming pathetic. I for one do not have problems with my lions, sure there might be some blemishes here and there. But I see the same blemishes on SOC and SRC toys, so should I start screaming that Bandai is a sh*tty company because of poor paint apps? You are all complaining about each lions price, and although I agree that these lions should be available on toy stores, plastic pellets are not that cheap. So the bigger the figure, the bigger the price. It is basic economics.

Its funny how people get annoyed at the hateful reviews but are willing to overlook the bad stuff as simple fixes. These are not fixes I should be doing. Its like buying a new car and then having to fix stuff yourself or getting two drivers side seats or having a door fall off wgen you open it. Atoms reviews mostly concentrate on the bad because everyone else raves about the figure being two feet tall so we shouldnt complain. I should be biased as a big Voltron fan but truth is I feel matty didnt put enougheffort into this. It feels like they did it just do it. I feel they hate this project now and cant wait to be done withit. I will be happy to just display mine and never play with it, but for those that play with it they are in for annoying leg popping action while posing, wearing out of paint on joints and other misc sloppiness that should not happen on something so expensive. If it was meant to be an adult collectible it should have been made like one. I cant stand a review of this toy that doesnt call out the issues of this.As I get each lion I dont feel like Im holding a $70 toy and yes I know thats with shipping but there is no way around the shipping so its a $70 toy. I bought a $10 Star Wars figure that makes the Voltron figures look foot-made. So basically for me its a cool-looking Voltron on its own but looking beyond that it has lots of issues. Edit: I had the exact same issues as Atom with my blue lion. Other than that they have been ok for the most part, but definetely sloppy eveything. I have globs of random glue on mine, scrape marks in random areas where the worker either tried to remove stray paint or stray glue spots among other common issues. I wouldnt say I hate this release...i am gappy someone tackled this, but I feel with a teeny bit more effort it could have been amazing. Im sure matty will want to milk these molds after the amount of money they sank into this even if they said no more release I agree. These aren't $70 toys... with shipping included, they really should be maybe $50 at most. I've been fairly passive about this series (honestly I didn't expect a lot), BUT.. if Mattel re-releases this figure in an improved form for the same price, I will be on that freaking Mattel board going ballistic.

Mattel usually re-releases the exact same toy. They do not do the Renewals that Bandai does.

To be fair, I also had a comment deleted from a CDX post once and, after I inquired, it turned out it was exclusively because I had posted an image in my comment. The HTML board coding system technically allows you to post images in your comments but for the most part admins will automatically delete any image comment regardless of content. So yeah, it was probably more the fact that it was a comic strip posted in the comments that got it wiped out, not actually whether or not it disagreed or agreed with the viewpoints of Atom (who is, yes, an insufferable individual but that's neither here nor there).
Now I shall return to lurking as I have zero horses in this race.

I just find it interesting how our expectations change depending on who's making the toy and what is it. These are not hugely expensive toys but there not cheap either. Would we put up with the same QC issues in say a SRC? Or does the fact that these are just big toys override the QC factor. Is it because its Voltron that we're more willing to overlook things?

Well SRCs are not cheap. Let's include shipping in the cost because no seller ships for free. So, an SRC will run you about $62 shipped (using HLJ SRC product and shipping cost). 14cm of a beautiful collectible action figure for $62. BTW, Revoltechs are the same price... and are all plastic. For $70, you get a not so beautiful, not so perfectly painted, but very cool and very big Lion with its pilot action figure that fits inside. Once you have all 5 of these Lions, you can combine them into one of the biggest Voltron action figures ever made. I have been very fortunate with my Lions/Figures so far (knock on wood), but the way I see it, even if my Lions had the issues Atom points out, I would just fix them myself. Of course, if my Lion or pilot came with broken parts, or just couldn't stand on its own, that would be another story. Those I would send back for a replacement. But again, that's just me. I like to make stuff better anyway... make it my own. ;D }D

I went back to collectiondx.com and read all the reviews of these figures. Why did atom continue to purchase them if he didnt like the first one to begin with? He really seems to hate these. I dont have any because I like the vehicle voltron more, but Im willing to bet that even if atom got a perfect lion, he would complain about it. But all that aside, I must admit that his angry reviews are pretty funny.

I'd still rather have that prototype of the new Voltron that was shown released. I think it would look good next to the TMP Voltron and MP Voltron.

What happened to that new show? Are they doing a season 2? Seems like Voltron, GI Joe Renegades, Transformers Prime, Thundercats, etc all just dropped off the map.

Transformers is still going strong especially now that its syndicated in Japan. Not sure about the others but I hope Thundercats is still a go, that's a great show.

Everything but Transformers has been canned. Odd that they killed renegades just as the toys reached the shelves, but it was always just going to be a space filler between movie lines. Voltron might come back, I recall reading a Q&A with Mattel where they said they were looking for a retail partner for the toys for the new line. Maybe if the toys ever get released, they'll bring the toon back for another season.

I was pretty sure that Thundercats is still on. I saw a ton of the toys at SDCC. Maybe those were ones from previous. I do not know since I do not collect them
