Mattel Voltrons both small and jumbo versions must do well so that Bandai will finally take notice & finally come up with their SOC version.

Matty hasn't been selling as well lately, wonder why. MOTU releases used to be gone within minutes. Now they hang on for days or weeks, are they just producing WAY more now?

Is there a thread for the Toynami VOLTRON figure?
I ask, because, believe it or not, I scored a Blue lion and the Black lion (Toynami) from my local thrift store yesterday afternoon.
I took them home to see if I could form Voltron... the Black lion formed a nice body and head, but it is tough tucking the front paws into the shoulders. The Blue lion formed the right leg and feet. I searched for the manufacturer's inscription... on the bottom of the Blue lion "leg" (foot) it reads as "TM & c 2005 WEP Toynami".
The detail and scale of this Voltron figure blow me away... I wish I had scored this Voltron figure much sooner. Now I gotta find the rest of the missing lions and accessories.
I paid $5 bucks for them both Together. The shop owner didn't have a clue what these lions were, and I had a tough time explaining the Toynami figure to him. He promised he'd keep an eye out for lions #2, 3, and 5. I'll post pics up shortly.

I've even read on other collector sites where people prefer the plastic lions because they pose better with the way they are weighted. So either way, nice score!

Thanks guys... I didn't snap pics of him yet, I'm heading to work right now; and I'll be away all day tomorrow, so I'll post pics later in the week.
I think the Toynami I have is plastic. If it were die-cast I'd have to worry about things such as paint scratching and dings when I pose him. He doesn't feel as "weighty" as if it were die-cast.
With plastic, if it gets scratched I can sand and repaint him. Also, I can take each lion apart and cast resin copies to make the other missing limbs (in other words I can CHEAT! LOL) ;D
That shop's closed today and tomorrow... I'll head back later in the week and dig through all the toy bins to find the other lions. There, see!... I just Won't Grow Up! ;D

Voltron to have diecast after all? www.poeghostal.com/2011/08/ask-mattel-answers-for-mid-august-2.htmlNote question number 3. But I won't put too much stock in the QnA just yet since it was mentioned in an interview with Mattel's brandon Sopinksy that there won't be any diecast. I guess we can only be sure when the figure gets released. ;D Gold

They may use metal in the joint connections, as it would handle stress a lot better than plastic. At almost two feet tall, even when mostly plastic, this Voltron will be quite heavy.

Ditto. At that height, I'd guess it will be almost as heavy as the old Voltron jumbo; so it would make sense to use metal in the joints, if it's gotta hold a pose and a weapon accessory. And if the pilots are gonna be stashed inside, yeah they'd better build it to handle all that stress. ;D

I have to admit, I'm growing to like those pilots. If I can just get the pilots, I can do a lot with them. ;D Now.... looking at the pic, they do seem rather largely out-of-scale to their lions. So, there's no way to fit them Inside their lions. The cockpits are located inside the lions' heads. Am I right? Other than that, I feel like I'm starting to warm up to this Voltron set. zozo-Mag

It may bother some scale perfectionists but i ain't complaining if it fits and if the pilots look good!

I subscribed for one weeks ago, but was thinking about subscribing for a second one. I contacted Mattel about it, but apparently you can't increase the quantity of the order nor can you cancel the order and make a new one. There's nothing they can do in terms of combining 2 separate orders so that shipping cost is only charged once per delivery.
Their inflexibility is really pissing me off. I don't want to pay $40 or $50 additional shipping.
edit: just got email from Mattel, they are now saying they'll ship all subscriptions together with the exception of the first batch. I'm glad Mattel is able to come up with a solution!

Those new pics are starting to make me change my mind and get them...
What's domestic shipping like through their store? They're already charging more than they're worth, do they gouge you on the shipping too?
