Thanks for sharing your experience; I will avoid the Getter 2 mold as well now. I agree regarding Threezero's approach; I would prefer to pay the same price as a Fewture figure for a hulking 20" thing with plenty of accessories, weight and metal content be damned. The thing is, I think Fewture ticks many of the right boxes for people who are primarily gokin collectors: lots of metal, and they are pretty large compared to other chogokin. I can't speak for you, but I got into collecting through 1/6-scale, not chogokin, so I expect more articulation from my figures and at least 10" of height by default. With that background, a Fewture piece ends up feeling limited to pose and on the smaller end of average height—in short, very unimpressive for $300 or more. The Getter G figures seem to have better engineering, so if that keeps up I will follow the newer designs, but basically everything before Getter Dragon is a write-off for me.
I think we end up paying through the nose for metal content, to a pretty large extent. For example, Ultimetal Optimus Prime is 44cm tall with some good articulation but also significant limits, a ton of die-cast and some cool light features. It costs about $1000 or more with shipping. Hot Toys' 1/4-scale Iron Man Mark 43 is 49cm tall, with articulation that is at least as good as Ultimetal Prime (better in many cases), some removable parts with excellent painted detail (but less than Prime) and more lights. It cost me about $550 with shipping. I think most of the reason we pay a lot more for a smaller, less playable figure is the high metal content, the company having to engineer joints that accommodate the metal, and the higher shipping cost due to weight—yet, at the end of the day, Iron Man is at least as impressive as Prime on the shelf, if not more so.

I don't feel the same about my EX Gokin Getter 2 at all. It's absolutely gorgeous. The only thing I can agree on is that the elbows can't hold the larger drill up - it's fine with only the small one, though. But then, neither can a lot of figures with huge guns and swords. The difference is that these usually come with a stand (like Aoshima's Shin Getter 2... which actually doesn't really need it, ironically - it's probably meant to be used to prevent the figure from taking a nose dive). That's Fewture's real mistake here : not including a stand for the drill. If you absolutely want to pose it with the drill up, you can buy a stand for that. If you can afford that figure, you surely can afford a cheap little accessory like that.
Yeah, they should have included the stand in the first place, but it's not even close to a deal-breaker to me. If it had trouble holding its regular arms up, then that would be a huge flaw, but it's not.

I'm glad you had a good experience with the mold, but if anything this highlights the problem with Fewture: bad QC. Some collectors—maybe even most—wind up with a great figure like yours (and note how even that isn't problem-free because they did not design it properly), but many deal with crap like loose ball joints, parts falling off, bad gluing and subpar paint finishing. I've contacted a few people with Black Getter to see if they have problems standing it up, and none of them do—but mine can barely stand because the weight is constantly shifting due to the loose waist. And to an extent this is a design problem as well, because the figure is basically two halves connected by a single ball-joint with no support on any side. The Getter G line indicates that they have improved with time, but some of the older stuff simply does not hold up in 2016, and even if a design is strong—as your experience with Getter 2 indicates—there is no guarantee your figure will be a good realisation of that design.

I had the first 4 figures; 1 2 3 and Ryoma but I wasn't happy with the QC and sold them about 6 months or so later. I thought I could look past the QC issues but I just kept worrying that at some point they'd just break. Which ultimately is too bad b/c I really do like the look of these figures.

I have many original Fewture Models and my problem with Getter 2 is the weak paint job. The white part at the back is all cracked.
I put some nail polish to seal it, but it would need a repaint from a pro to repair it.
Other that since they're on display only not so bad, but the joint do get weak without the stand.

As a collector, it's not at today standard. But at the time it was release, those were the real deal.
Best example the SOC line, look at today Mazinger vs the old GX-01R. There is an evolution, but Bandai did a better job at QC.

well better late than never right ? i got the figure about a week ago, but i just finished my photography for this awesome figure, and i love it first i started with the damage part set and surprisingly every thing was holding together very well, way better than Getter one damage parts set then used the changing set (Getter one parts) and again surprisingly everything was holding together very well, no falling parts AT ALL and i saved the best for last which is cape and the claws, and i had couple of issues here first both claws on his forearms and fist falls kinda easy but not annoyingly like i thought it will be, the cape is awesome but its heavy so it pulls the figure backward after you adjust the figure feet, legs and mid section right, this problem will be solved, lastly the magnets on the leg armor got separated (the glue got dry with time i guess) which is not a deal breaker at all honestly i really enjoyed taken photos for this figure and i highly recommend it, i got mine for $426 shipped with EMS and im happy with this purchase, this is by far the BEST Black Getter ever made in my opinion sorry for not posting photos but my camera battery died and its almost 4 AM

Brilliant photos. They make me wish I hadn't sold the toy, though in my case it was a sensible move. I believe my Getter Poseidon is still boxed up in Pakistan; I should get that over here now that I'm in the USA for the foreseeable future. But I worry that having it shipped will damage it.

As nice if a display piece as this is I don't know if I could recommend it nowadays. It's so beautiful but I don't know if I could knowingly interest into something where things just pop off at will for this price in 2018.

i agree with you, for me i knew what i was getting but i was wrong nothing fell at all on my unit, its not only a great figure to look at but its very nice to display specially if you have the damage parts set
i know the design choice wasn't great but its acceptable for me way better than Getter 1 repaint
