GaoFighGar was all mechanic, with no AI of its own, just a piloted mecha. GaoGaiGar's Galeon was a self aware entity of sorts... a protector for Mamoru. }D

When did Mazinkaiser become a classic? It came out after GGG and Gunbuster came out in 88. You know what I mean,he is inherently hooked to the Mazin saga therefor granfathered in as a classic. If I do say so myself!

If they do release an SRC Gurren Lagann, I hope it has the same metallic crimson as the Konami one. MazinkaiSer (not MazinkaiZer SKL - that one doesn't even have anything to do with Koji Kabuto), Shin Getter, and Neo Getter Robots are newer renditions of the classics. I don't know where Shin Mazinger would fall, but I guess in the classics as well? }D

Ah ok, but I would also call Gunbuster a classic too. Maybe its not from the 70's but it is pretty old and a classic anime. Gurren Lagann is a newer SR but it does have enough classic influences that I think it can fit, it has the whole docking thing like Mazinger, the chest face like Gaiking, the drill thing like Getter Ryger, even the chest boomerang like Great Mazinger. Still I would like more classics.

Maybe there is a wide spread consensus that "classic" mecha are those of humanoid shape, without much detail incorporated in their desing, while the more modern mechas are highly detailed, with careful consideration of scales and such. Like Mazinger, Gaiking, and Voltes V would be classics while Dangaioh, Gunbuster, and Dancougar would not - even when they are pretty old too.
I don't know... what do you guys think?

Or... are we going by the date the robots were created, and if so, how old would a robot have to be to be considered a classic... regardless of what it looks like? Would it be 10 years? 20? 30? 40??? ;D

But I do agree I want a SRC Grendizer, Mazinkaiser, and the Getters. I would rather get the Getters and Mazinkaiser over SRC Grendizer since the Metaltech fits the bill for me and is super awesome. Do people not have it and realize how perfectly it fits into the SRC line? Honestly, when I got it I went "well, do not need an SRC one this is perfect". As for Getters, I would love to see Shin Getter and would really love to see Getter Arc. That thing would look awesome. I think it would be cool to see that done over some of the more "classics"

Well, zankantou told me a really awesome description of Super Robots. They always should out the attacks as they do them. Otherwise its not super robot. I liked it.

Yeah, I've heard of Gurren and Gunbuster being the next SRC too, but haven't seen actual pics. Guess they're really serious about no leaked pics this time. There's a rumor that Gunbuster transforms? I'll believe it when I see it though. Gold

greengetterguy well, this info just hit us courtesy of zankantou first. That was just a few days ago. No one was able to take pictures of the prototypes. I suspect we will see the bad boys soon.
Gold, where did you hear that rumour? Not sure I want that honestly. The Revoltech one "transforms" as well and I would never have done that. Just like my SRC Reideen, always in robo mode. I guess it is cool knowing that it CAN transform and I suppose it is a great angle to get some of us to buy more than one. You know, to have one in each form displayed.

My friend and I were discussing it, and he mentioned reading about the transforming Gunbuster, though both of us aren't sure if this is true or not. I don't think it would be good too if it were transforming. It kinda makes everyone else on the SRC list look "incomplete" on a certain level Gold

I sure wish bandai made the special effects parts for retail sale. And also more extra accessories packs for all the super robot chogokins, including enemy robots for them, even if they make them entirely out of plastic. That would be so cool!

Just not sure how you make it transformable without it being floppy. I would rather just have the robot form.
