it may have had to do with the costs factored in for use of the number of production lines used to supply parts to the mattel line. thats my guess.

yeah standardization, these werent collectors items nor works of art at the time Mattel was making them.. they were straight up TOYS.. the difference betweent the upper arms of getter and mazinger were so slight that it didnt justify a different mold and a different chain of supply inside the company. This was back in the day when US industry was a model of streamlined mass production. As for the change in Getters feet, I bet it had more to do with making Getter a little taller than he originally was. The selling point of the Jumbo was that they were f**king BIG! When I got my Mazinga I was totally blown away by his size, he was almost as big as I was back in those days.. thats a powerful selling point in the eyes of kids like we were. They were BIG, kinda scary looking, colorful and they SHOT THINGS!! How could you ask for any more? I remember being 8 years old and in bed at night, looking at G Mazinger, he looked kinda scary looking in the dark but I felt reassured bc I it felt like he was protecting me from that Ghost in the closet! hahah
