I did a quick ps to see what the takara version might look like in Diaclone colors.

Man, I have to say I was hoping for powered convoy colorway from the get-go but I'm not sure I care for design aesthetic of either the KFC or the Takara one to be honest (regardless of color).

I just watched the Transformers 1986 again. It was an excruciating experience. I guess 12 year old kids are really gullible. However, none of Ultra Magnus' on-screen appearance looks like MP-22 Prototype... I really, really hope that those prototype shots are distorted

Really unimpressed with robot mode... the shapes are all in the right place but it's too bulky and has too many flaps. Robot mode is all I care about so I might have to pass on this guy. I was never a big fan of UM either so. The forearms just kill it..... the stacks and lower arms are just too thick to look like the classic UM. Plus the upper body is boxed in the wrong way. It's boxed outward instead of downward. The feet are kind of a joke (so huge) and the back kibble is not a feature I look forward too. It's close, but it looks like a 3rd party or KO almost. I don't know if this is the influence of the new guy.. but I'm not impressed. I think they should have approached the cab as pieces that fit tighter together.

I totally agree! He doesn't look at all good.

I'm not a huge Magnus fan but I am a fan of intuitive design plus I only paid $129 for it so it's not a huge wallet buster for me.

Boy his back looks horribly busy.
I like the truck mode but bot mode is meh so far. Perhaps color will improve him.

That last pic, on the bottom, tells me how awesome this will be!

Aww man, the new prototype pics are not doing this figure any favor. He even looks chunkier from the frontal shot. The shot from the back shows as if the figure doesn't have thighs, because of that huge buttflap. On the upper right corner of the tiny first pic that Dead-man posted there's a pic showing how MP22 scales next to MP10. Isn't that basically how CStack scales against MP10 - I mean MP22 will not be significantly smaller than CStack here CMIIW. EDIT: I hope my eyes aren't playing nasty tricks on me, granted CStack is standing further in the background... I really, really hope that color prototype pics will be the saving grace of this figure..

I think it is the pic. It is hard to see all the texture on the figure. Look at the big pictures above and you will see the sexy

Honestly KFC's version looks better to me. I think that add on kit that has the G1 heads would pretty much seal the deal.

my problem with the MP are minor ..
From the head to the waist it looks perfect .. the problem starts with the legs .. too bulky .. his feet could stomp MP Prime feet easily and the rear is a mess

Keith version is way better aesthetic for sure. With less line panels and details, it could be a perfect match to stick to MP line design. And what happens with this Takara version !?! Silhouette is way to "fat" (legs and forearms...) Back flap panels kill the shape. Parts swaping is the best solution when not having the skills (sorry no offense) to create a perfect transformation without missing the design overall...

I don't think it is horrible, but I do think part swapping would had allowed for a better aesthetic as well as being closer to the original toy in spirit.
