If Amiami keeps that policy they will loose a lot of business.

This was the first order I have made through Nippon Yassan. Looks like I am glad I did. It is still available there

You can pay NY orders with your credit card, you just use the PayPal checkout feature which is secure anyway. Oh I know. All my Pay pal transactions go onto my credit card but I have to verify my account to get the limit removed (I have almost reached the limit) and I am not willing or interested in giving my banking info to Pay Pal to get it removed. Just stubborn I guess. I seem to remember that Ami Ami never even listed the DX Mazinger on their english site as well as the latest removal of Danguard and Daishogun. HLJ and NY are looking better all the time.

I know what you are talking about, but that is not what I meant. Nippon-Yasan uses PayPal's checkout system, so people without PayPal accounts can just enter their credit card info like with other checkout systems.

Not sure how I missed that. Might have to try that next time I order with them. Thanks

Thanks there is a link just beneath the paypal login screen where you can access the credit card payment screen. its quite easy to miss it though.

Using paypal has its benefits. if the item that arrives is not as described or damaged, you can file a report and seek compensation.
in light of a member who has highlighted a recent unpleasant experience with NY, i would opt for paypal as payment as a form of insurance though i will have to pay slightly more than the credit card because of paypal's rates.

i think paypal only covers up to 30-40 days from payment? not really ideal for preorder items with distant release dates. i think credit card covers significantly longer (but note that i am speaking from experiences with local cc companies, those in your countries might differ). reason is because i have raise my fair share of disputes over the years with both paypal and credit card companies, while credit companies tend to entertain me after the coverage period has expired, paypal refused to help me and insist that once the coverage period have expired, there's nothing they can do.
but guess charles is right if you purchase an item that is in stock, its easier to raise dispute and a faster process in getting compensation when done through paypal. cc companies here typically wait up to 60 days just to get a response from the errant seller.
ah, but cost wise, thats interesting, up till now, i yet to fully grasp the charges of paypal and cc companies here. from what i know, paypal gives you a very poor exchange rate while the cc charges you an extra 2-3% on top of your purchases while maintaining international standard of exchange rates. but then again, i could be wrong.

Credit card's have the exact same buyer protection benefits as PayPal, and in the USA some credit card companies go the extra mile for their customers. What happened to our fellow member was a screw-up from Nippon-Yasan, and it should be rectified. But then again, I had pleasant transactions with them. It just comes to show you that merchants make mistakes, and since most of the merchants that we deal with are overseas, we have to use credit card companies or PayPal to fight for our rights.

Precisely because PayPal covers only up to 40 days, I chose the option of "Pay later" for NY. This way I will be able to raise a claim if there are any issues with the product. PayPal typically upcharges about 3.5% above the current exchange rate when you purchase something and down-charges you 3.5% of the current exchange rate when you convert a currency or withdraw it. 3.5% is a very good margin of making money. Just imagine the amount of money they transact daily.

The lower price helped a lot too. }D Totally agree! The price was a shock in a good way. Much less expensive than I thought it would be and that's why I decided to order two. Daioja cost me at least as much if I recall. Mainly due to the lousy exchange rate at the time though. Either way I am really looking forward to this guy and I hope that Bandai sticks to this kind of schedule and only releases two SOC per year. Much more affordable this way. ;D

Wow, the Yen is dropping like a rock. It's too bad NY won't adjust pricing even before they'v received payment.

Wow, the Yen is dropping like a rock. I noticed that with my last order. Anyone know the particulars as to why? The only thing I can guess is that perhaps the dollar is doing better and maybe we aren't printing up so much freaking money?

The only thing I can guess is that perhaps the dollar is doing better and maybe we aren't printing up so much freaking money? The JP central bank said they were devaluing the currency. I have read 105 yen to the dollar or so is the target.
