I have my HT Iron Patriot. And i think Bandai finally met its match as fars as comparison to SOC line. The fit and finish surpass any and all. SOC. Just a superior product.
The only thing thats behind is i believe the durability. SOCs are built like a tank. I dont think HT s will survive full force throwing against hardwood floor.

I dont collect these but why do their heads look squashed so much in the helmets, like they cut theface off to fit in a small hole. Second I get the upgraded suits ok,but to leave out all the early suits in their NATURAL look is appalling to me.What of the Iron man we knew from the 60s 70s and 80s?Ther are 50 damn upgraded versions to put in those armor hall cages but why not original non movie ones as an addition? Why ddoes Marvel and HotToys abandon those? is it because its only a movie line?Even so abandoning the original suits for the movies sucks according to me.I also get spandex suits dont translate well to the screen but Iron Man never wore one so? Or am I off here and they are represented or will be?

Or am I off here and they are represented or will be? I do agree with how the heads look squashed in the helmets. Also, some of these suits look virtually impossible to fit a short and stocky Robert Downey Jr. But who is going to appeal to having a short stocky Mark Suit? As for your other question, you kind of answered it on your own. This is only a movie line. While some suits do pay homage to comic inspirations, there will probably never be an original suit rendered because Hollywood almost never does an exact page to screen translation. I can't think of many Marvel Studios films that have a direct comic page to screen translation on original material for any character's costumes or likeness. X-Men, Fantastic Four, Avengers, Thor, Iron Man, Punisher, etc... all do not have original suits rendered for the big screen. I think the closest 1:1 translation would be The Hulk. Even for DC Comics side, have you ever seen a Batman film have the exact Batman we read in the comics? It's just like as if any super robot were to get his big screen debut by a big Hollywood film company. First skipping the fact that none would ever do one in the first place, but would you expect Paramount pictures, Sony, Dreamworks, Universal to make Voltes V, Combattler, Raideen or even Mazinger Z exactly as they appeared in vintage anime? Same premise. I don't even think I'd want direct translations to big screen because although a lot of material is classic and nostalgic, it's also outright cheesy in realistic terms. If you want real life translations of spandex super heroes suits, then just attend Comic Con and you'll see it all there. Just also bring your vomit bag. lol

I have the Roger Corman F4 film and it's a guilty pleasure of mine, but no way in damn hell do I want to see exact 100% suits like that in next year's Josh Trank's Fantastic Four reboot.

Damn while I was writing a lengthy response on my phone it suddenly locked up! Damn iOS 8! Anyway although I grew up reading comics, I love the way Marvel/DC has taken most of the hero costumes and modernized them with a few exceptions of course (green lantern/x-men comes to mind). For me, the old ones (comic/TV) look like crap next to the new ones.

Now, this is interesting... we actually do have a thread dedicated exclusively to the Hot Toys Iron Man figures Well, I see moderate enthusiasm though, kind of expected since this is "Robot Japan", and Iron Man is neither a robot (not a proper one) nor Japanese. But hey, the thread is here, and I'm happy, hehe. Seems like most of the "complaint comments" can be summed in: these figures are really expensive. Yes they are so expensive, in fact, that I think I'll start getting some only in a few years time, I can't afford them right now. They do look great, and they're quite big. But they just cost too much. Collecting all Iron Man related figures would require so much money... nope, I have a different strategy in mind: to focus on the weird armors. Why should I pay hundreds of dollars for a repaint? That doesn't sound right... fortunately we got a wide range of choices when it comes to HT Iron Man suits, some of their design are quite interesting, diverging from the standard formula. Let's see if I can find some examples... The last one being my favourite Igor is completely different from the other suits, and it's also the biggest one. Until the Hulkbuster comes along

Yup. There's just a handful of us here that collect Hot Toys Iron Man. They are kinda pricey but man are they worth it!

I'm probably not going to get igor or bones. Not too fond of their designs. I never even got the Mark 1 for the same reason. Don't like repaints either such as Midas. Don't want to be a completist in collecting these since this can eat into my other things I collect.

I have a few of them. Mark I ver.2, Mk 2 ver.2, Mk 5, Mk 7. But trying to limit those as my only HT Ironmans, since they just keep pumping them out every few months. Never gonna catch up with the releases, and I can be very picky on what I like. Red Snapper is one of my favorite bulky design, and today's Sideshow "20% Off + Free Shipping" lured me to almost pulling the trigger on that guy. But when I check out with their coupon code, the discount didn't add up to 20% Off, more like 11% Off...so I stepped back and didn't pull the trigger. Very tempting though.
Have been collecting HTs for a long time, but not many of us here collects them.
