If all the stickers were there, and just scuffed and peeling like the ones that are, I'd probably just leave it alone and clean it off as best I could. As it is, I'll be removing the head and feet and running it through the dishwasher to clean it up and get the stickers off. I'll post pics of naked Voltron once that's done.

Looks like a good solid 'bot to work on. Once you have cleaned it, if any of the stickers are stubborn, I find that plain ol' rubbing alcohol does a good job taking them off. Of course, you have to use a little elbow grease. Good luck!

That's usually what I feel most confident using for cleaning the plastic on old toys.
I guess there's literally a screw loose on the inside of this guy. Does anyone know how the buttons that hold in the wings are attached? I'm thinking a screw fell off one of them on the inside. It sounds too big to just be a left-over plastic slug.

Quick update, haven't been able to do much, but I did get some new springs for the claws (not pictured), took Voltron apart, removed what I could of the stickers by hand and am now soaking it in the sink. This is him deconstructed (but before his bath):

And by the way, it was a big ol' plastic slug that was rattling around. When they cut the hole for the neck they left the slug inside the torso. You can see it in the 2nd pic there.

Sooooo THAT's what that slug is! I found one inside my Voltron and I didn't even know what it was. I thought it was for the wings.
Earlier this evening at my restaurant job I ran my Voltron through the dishwasher machine (Very hot water, 180degrees Fahrenheit) a couple times, took him apart, scrubbed all his sticker gungus off his body parts with a green scrubby pad, ran him a couple times more through the machine, scrubbed him again, and once more through the machine.....
...I have him at home with me right now. I'll take pics of him as is before I start the makeover.
My Voltron is missing its wings, but I think I can make my own from scratch using thick plastic pieces cut from deli fish tubs. My red and green lions are also missing their lower jaws; I think I'll design my own, Without the extended spring tabs. The weapons will be made last. As for a stand, I'll make one from a 3" deep deli fish tub.

I ran my through the dishwasher (not an industrial one), but could not get the glue residue off. I ended up using WD-40. It's supposedly okay on polyethylene so I tried a spot, cleaned it off, and checked it out. Seemed fine, no discoloration or residue. Everything looks great now, but didn't have time to take pics yet. Will try tomorrow.

Nice.
In case the WD40 leaves any greasy residue on the surface, you can clean it off with Palmolive dishwashing soap... it cuts grease really good.
The good thing about Jumbos: their plastic and vinyl materials can withstand hot water. Although I wouldn't bathe them in hot water beyond 200 degrees Fahrenheit, or else they could melt and end up looking like what happened to EVA 02 in the "End Of Evangelion" movie. lol ;D

The only thing that happened in the dishwasher is that the small holes on the back of my yellow lion/foot where the screws attach kind of collapsed. Don't know if it was from the hot water, or the pressure of it. I don't think it will really affect anything.
And that's exactly what I used to clean off any WD-40 residue (although there really wasn't any to speak of).

True that. Small details such as the screw holes often get so soft and pliable under such intense heat from the water.
The hot water makes the jumbo's plastic and vinyl materials become soft and pliable during the bath... ...but once you take them out of the water they start to cool off and return to their rigid state even at room temperature.
If any part of the Jumbo (any jumbo, or vinyl figure, for that matter) looks oddly-shaped or bent out of proportion, the best time to straighten the part is while it is still immersed in hot water, or while having a hair blow-dryer heating it while you straighten the part.
A note about hair blow-dryers: try no to concentrate the heat gust at the part. A short direct blow is okay, then move the dryer away from the part. That way you can control the pliability.
If at all possible, Avoid using a Heat-gun...... though it might help the job faster, it could also damage (melt) the Jumbo's part. Because the heat is so intense; if you concentrate the heat blast onto the part, you'll end up with hot molten jumbo plastic and possibly suffer severe burns if the molten plastic touches you. Just a safety tip, in case you might ask about it later on.

A couple pics of my stripped Voltron... and That's just a Before preview... I'll start my own thread to show the work in progress, because it's gonna get pic-heavy once I start working on my jumbo. This is your thread, so that you can document your work on your Voltron jumbo. Keep us posted. zozo-mag

I was gonna pull the arms off too, but decided against it. Yours looks nice and clean, too!

Thanks! I hear ya about the arms. I managed to take my Voltron apart as soon as I took him outta the dishwasher machine while the plastic was still soft. As for putting him back together, I can do that without the need for heat; he'll snap together fine. I just have to do that before I make any mods to areas near the attachments. That way I can avoid ruining any newly-painted or remade surfaces. zozo-mag

Crisp, clean & brightA, awaiting his new decals!
Something I might suggest, your mileage may very, is cleaning off some of the flashing on the seems where the decals overlay. Such as where the whiskers go on the front of the cat snouts.
