I really had fun with this project. Almost makes we want to find another beater Voltron and do it all over again. I think the main reason the decals go on so easy is their thickness. If they were thinner, like the originals, then there would be all kind of wrinkles and bubbles. These just lay down so easily.

Beaters are far and few in between, but when they show up unexpectedly it makes ya go "Damn, wish I'd been ready for this!". ;D Yes, the thickness of the decals makes all the difference. The original decals were just adhesive paper. The decals made by our RJ members are good quality thick vinyl, which is a stronger material that will last longer and the colors won't fade. You made out really good with this project. zozo-mag

Fantastic job on the application! Better than my original job!
Sorry about the Red Lion sticker omission. I am getting these out to you asap. And a new set of Red Lion eyes.
As a note those decals for thights aren't short. That's all the bigger the original ones are. They didn't completely wrap the thigh. Weird I know. But the 4 or so with original stickers on them were all that size.

Hey Will, I didn't mean to imply that you made the thigh stickers short. I just meant that I ended up being short on the back side because I started them too far over on the front.
They really are great stickers, and I am super happy with how this guy looks now.

That looks awesome, and brand new! Nice job. Will's sticker set details look perfect. I can't tell from original. Glad you got some nice springs for the hands. As for beaters, folks can fart around watching ebay if you like, but the highest qty. of those LJN Voltrons steadily shows up at flea market vendors, toy/collector show vendors, antique/junk/thrift shops etc. There's tons of em out there, just get out and find them.
So glad to hear the repro stickers are thick, and easy to handle. I'll have to get a set myself now. *Not trying to thread hijack, just info* I had promised Will last year I'd send him an original sticker sheet from a NOS toy, to make an exact copy template layout, and boy did that plan blow up in my face. Just wanted to publicly apologize to Will for that hold-up. My sticker sheet had fallen, and took a set curved, into the bottom of the box, as it was stored standing up. I took the cury sticker sheet out, and pressed it flat between some boards w/paper protecting layers, thinking it would be fine to ship, but when it came out a week later, all those rakkin-frakkin dryed out stickers started flying off the backing sheet like snowflakes, and had to catch em all. Now I've got to figure out what liquid re-activator to use, and try to reset over 50 little stickers on the backer. Any suggestions?

Hey RTJohn... I dunno how far you're willing to drive, but I've been keeping my eye on two thrift places: Port Of Call Consignments up in Waterford www.facebook.com/pages/Port-Of-Call-Consignments/206540742712076?fref=tsand I.Has.Toys out in Burnt Hills on Rt50. www.facebook.com/i.Has.Toys?fref=tsI.Has.Toys is the better place to look, they always have jumbos and other robot figs. Prices vary on their stuff, but worth checking out. Port Of Call in Waterford often has Marvel and Transformers figures; but I'm watching them in case they might have any jumbo beaters poppin up. ;D zozo-mag As for beaters, folks can fart around watching ebay if you like, but the highest qty. of those LJN Voltrons steadily shows up at flea market vendors, toy/collector show vendors, antique/junk/thrift shops etc. There's tons of em out there, just get out and find them.

Nothing, I tells ya. Actually, I don't look that often. BUT I can tell you this, there is ONE comic shop in town, and they carry nothing vintage. There are NO vintage toy stores, and the thrift shops are wastelands. I don't know if they even do the flea market anymore. There used to be a big one that they held at an old drive-in (my old neighborhood drive-in actually) but it's been leveled. The last time I went (ages ago) I wasn't even looking for this kind of stuff. It's a bummer.

bowhuntr66, not to be snarky, but if youve spotted a voltron on ebay and tell folks here about it, that means they automatically see it, too. deals are out there, but shhhhhhhhh. score first, then show and tell will be great.
as for bowhunting, my buddy just gave me a beautiful multi-laminate long bow. awesome piece of work with a nice 80lb pull. its been years since my last attempt at archery.

Lesson learned 1oldrobot. It wasn't one of my top 5, so I wasn't too heart broken. But it would have made a nice addition. Won't happen again. 80# draw!! Wow, impressive!! Congrats and good shooting if you decide to get back into it. I've been hunting ( strictly bow ), and tournament shooting for about 30 years. The nic. also comes from my long search for a jumbo bowfist. Tom

is our good buddy bourno still making repros of the bowfist? im sure he will read this and respond. if youre a purist and need an original, youll see them posted in the usual shooting galleries a few times a year, but if a repro is fine, you wont be disappointed. theres been some updated talk up here about 3D printing and it seems like the technology is coming to some sort of established standard. if thats the case, that will be incredible news soon for collectors of all kinds. originals would be so killer to have, but its becoming as expensive as a weekend of caviar served on a retreaded stripper.
going shooting with my bow tomorrow. if im heard from again, then i didnt do too badly.

Between Bourno, Willohio, Kitsir, and Shogunplastics, among others-- --I'd say you can't go wrong with either of these guys mentioned. And if any one of them can't repro what you're looking for, the other guy might be able to help or refer you to someone who can. It's nice to have those options here at RJ. zozo-mag

Yeah I actually got the bowfist from him. I've also dealt with Derik a few times. Awesome quality!! I don't mind repros, I fill in where needed with them until I find an original. It's getting insane, the original pieces are costing as much as the toys themselves. Most times it's easier to buy a " junker" for parts. Thanks guys for the advice, really new to the forum, and seriously collecting, that's why I joined RJ.

looks like you shaved the excess flash around the mouth areas of the lions. Those sticker apps appear really smooth. Great looking Voltron.

There wasn't that much on them, but I did try to get rid of what little was there.
