Might have to think about this, not because I don't think it belongs in the SOC line or I'm gonna make a "statement" and not buy it but because it's gonna be pretty expensive.

I'm confused by the actual GX designation on this chogokin robot....

Figured this was the reason the Yamato wasn't given a GX number and just said it was a Soul of Chogokin. Honestly it looks like a fun toy but I'm just waiting for the inevitable sh#t storm about how this doesn't belong in the SOC line, where's so and so, Bandai you suck, etc. lol.

I saw this in a mag scan a month or so ago and figured it was in the chogokin line and not the soul of chogokin line. Heh, this is going to upset a lot of folks here. While this looks neat I'm not the One Piece fan I used to be so I'm going to pass on this.

Marketing it as GX is so weird. How and why Bandai did this I just wonder. I won't say DEF but, I can see this going on clearance isle at HLJ or BBTS in six months time.
I might pick it up then "if" it goes around for $100....

Yeah I know One Piece is extremely popular but I've only seen a episode or two. I'm sure it will be a quality piece and this shows that the SOC line isn't dead but as with every new SOC released fans will be upset unless it's a giant boxset that includes SRX, Mazinkaiser, Shin Getter, Diakengo, Golion, etc lol. Oh well.

See that's what gets me. For the money they put into developing a potential shelf warmer they could have used that money to produce the rest of the straw hat crew in figuarts form.

They must have seen a market there, I know they released a diecast Franky and a optional tank accessory pack it must have sold well to justify this or there's a movie coming out or something.

I think this is the most expensive combiner ever released in the GX line. Is there any indication of size in the news article?

Chogokin Franky was a shelfwarmer that was discounted a month or two after his release. The tank accessory was a tamashii web exclusive. Mind Franky wasn't a bad figure by any means (I have him on my shelf) however, it seems Japan loves its statues more than articulated figures when it comes to One Piece. We'll just have to see how this dose.

I'm disappointed. But I'm also not a one piece fan. This should have been a GE-series Chogokin release.

It's weird the more I see it the more I like it, I'm not really into comedic themed robots but this thing is starting to grow on me and should also be a fair size too.

Not sure how I feel about this being in the SOC line. The Chogokin one was pretty much a shelf warmer albeit one that got glowing reviews. I do not own it either and this will be an easy pass for me.

Yeah, I'm in the same situation, though I have a soft spot for comedic robots. I'm not into One Piece (not that I hate it, I just never gave it a shot), but this one is indeed growing on me. These shots nearly sold it: (That screw is an eyesore, though. I'll have to cover it if Bandai doesn't.) Problem is, similar shots made me grab MegaHouse's Caramelman 1 (from Dr.Slump) a while ago. I got over it quite fast and sold it back at a loss... and this one came with pink poop! Does Franky come with any fruity turd? Nope. -1 for Franky. Though Franky's bot does carry a big sword: And it splits and transforms? Ok... it just got a lot cooler now. Not entirely set on getting it on release, but if it goes on sale it might be really difficult to resist.

I dunno, man. Like a lot of folks here, I tend to stick to the serious side of the heroic super robot character archetype as a prerequisite when considering an addition to my collection but I think this guy looks pretty awesome. I also don't know anything about One Piece and I never found any of the previously released toys and statues relative to the franchise appealing at all but this model actually looks really cool. It's totally goofball but it's design is somehow transcendent in an Ippatsuman kind of way. I'd have never expected it but I'm kind of excited for this release. Love the gattai and the tank tread treatment.
