And over $200. I know that's to be expected at 23cm tall, but still... not exactly cheap.

Do you think it's the ugly licensing issue again? Maybe Bandai wants to use up its'One Piece license up? Is Bandai's new SOC department manager trying out the "New Coke Fomula" marketing method to prove himself?
If Badai had the license to do real cool classic everybody wants, maybe it would of done so. Maybe it is the unfortunate licensing issue based on timing of it.
But then if that's the case, why give it the GX designation?

Cool transformation, but not worth more than $125 (IMO).
The $220 retail is too much. Plus shipping?!

All I can say is - glad I'm not a completionist. I guess it must appeal to some, but considering the history of this line, it is completely out of character.

Awwww...I was so on board with this release, until I saw the 26250 yen price tag. Watched the TV series Fishman Arc not too long ago, in which this Franky Shogun robot debut in. It was cool and kicked some ass, but the spot light was not on it. So not sure how much more screen time this bot will have in the future storyline. The Tamashii website description mentioned it kicked ass in the Z Film movie, which I'll soon get my hands on. As for the gokin, I'll have to wait and see if it is worth the heavy price tag, or if it goes on discount like the Franky gokin did. It doesn't even seem that big, at 23cm tall. Compare to previous offering (Franky & Going Merry Go), this one has a much higher price.
As for folks that haven't try watching One Piece much, you are missing out big time IMHO. I didn't think I would be into this show either until I gave it a try a bit more than a year ago. It doesn't have much robots, pirates was never my thing, drawing style a bit weird, themes seem juvenille at times, nothing look very serious. Even after I watched the first 5 episodes or so, I was really doubting why this show is even popular. But I didn't had much to watch at the time, so I kept on going. By the time I hit 30+ episodes, I finally get it. And it got me teared up for the first time... It was a long journey after catching up to the late 500-ish episodes in the next 6 months. But man...never did a show got me so pumped and shed manly tears so many times. The wacky looking characters became so lovable after you watched their stories, and the story premise is so out there that it breaks any predictability and stereotypes you may think of. Rarely do I get very into anime shows that has little to no sci-fi or robot elements in it (unless they are really good), but One Piece turn out to be way above my expectations and became one of my favorite show of all time. It even broke my habit of not buying character statues and got me collect a lot of Grandline Men figures. So to round this off, don't miss this show. It may have a slow start, and it may have its fair share of ups & downs with some filler here & there (expected for such a long running show, so pacing is not as tight as the manga would be). But with some patience, and a lot of viewing time, this will be a real awesome ride you won't forget. As Franky would have said it: "SUUUUUUPERRRRRRRRR highly recommended!!!"

Believe-it-or-not, I'm really excited about this robot! Can't wait to have this. I guess anything is better than another Yamato!

Oh man... the next SOC after this better be a solid super robot, after Yamato and this, it's almost as if Bandai wants diehard fans to beg for the line to end....

WHAT IS THIS GARBAGE!!! Sorry boats should be in another line of their own, like a vehicle line{speaking of the Yamato}.And now this silly bucket with a head on top, what is this Bandai!!we want Robots! Did you get hit on the head and have amnesia and dont remember SOC is a SUPER ROBOT line? This is why CMs is my favorite company,Bandai has so many other lines, cant they keep SOC a SR line!

As another member mentioned, this should be in the same line as the Chogokin Robo Mickey. I have no plans of getting this unless maybe it went on clearance or on sale like how I got that.

Ha! Cool toy for sure! I'd only pick up one on a whim & clearance deal, like others have said.
It certainly is a gokin, but not a "Soul Of", since there never was a vintage version of ANY of this cartoon, or toys, that could be reimagined today. Designation Fail.
"Soul Of" Chogokin, can certainly have other stuff than serious super robots, it's not just for serious, as it's the "Soul Of" the original gokin lines, from various companies back in the old days, including mostly Popy of course.
There were plenty of gokin humorous toys , of goofy comical characters, animals, ships, robots, in the original toy lines, released right in numberical lineup amongst the super robot toys.
The vehicles usually were under "Popynica" line, by Popy, but other brands didn't seperate the vehicle / character designations so much with the toys. Look at Takatoku, and Clover stuff.
All that said, doesn't seem right to have "Soul Of" GX # attached to this, but definitely a legit "Chogokin" of some line, like GE-# has been suggested.

So disappointed. Now I'm really wondering what Josh and Adam were hinting at in regards to "huge news" about an upcoming release they couldn't discuss, yet everyone was anticipating would be SOC Golion. What could that have been then?

Nice but not for me, a little too cute (as I just ordered a sd golion...anyway) I hope the soc line sticks with the look I've come to expect from it, with that said I'm glad to see the line is alive. Also glad I'm not a completist.
Who knows, if people hold out this guys price might drop like the Disney mickey mouse thing.
