I'm still tweaking some parts but I managed to get the waist ball joint done. It took me 3 tries to get this part right. After attaching this to the upper torso I'm gonna start working on the hands. I think I overdid the waist joint but I guess this will hold up pretty well.

I couldn't help but make the horns since I find that Garada looks naked without it. For now it just pegs in the head but I'm planning on making some revisions if it becomes floppy. I may also trim down some of the shaft of the horn as it seems to be a bit fat and seems to need to curve downwards more. I'm done making the connections for the waist joint and the articulation isn't too bad but I never intended it to be super posable since it's top heavy already. I'm glad it's now the same size as the src Mazinger with the all the joint attached. My estimates weren't wrong while I was making all the parts.

I know some folks here like the brass look, buy IMO it would be a crime not to paint that Garada in its original anime colors. If it was a fixed-pose brass statue, I would kind of agree on leaving it unpainted. But this is an awesome action figure, and leaving it unpainted would be as stopping the project at the 99% completion stage. }D

@tmz I plan on silver plating the white parts of Garada and the only colored parts of him are the toes, chest and crotch area. Yeah I do want to paint him to see what he looks like with colors. It's easy to strip the paint anyway if I prefer the naked copper look more. I almost forgot about his chest design and I'm just gonna engrave it. I realized I still have a lot of work to do with this since I still have to sand and polish everything.

Well.....if you leave it brass we know you worked on it. In the next few we can 3D scan it and make reproductions Paint would hide the material I'm still biased....its an arts and crafts syle bot. Ed

Ed Having a 3d scanner would be really nice. It's not hard to remove the paint so it's not a problem even if I do paint it, though removing the silver plating can be a problem. I'm also curious to what will it look like with it's original colors. I can polish it up and take a picture in it's unpainted form when I'm done and then take a picture of it after the paint job to make a comparison with both finishes.

There are several members here that are awesome with 3D software. If I was 1/10th as skilled as them, I would be printing my own figures in Shapeways already!!!

The leg joints are all attached but I still find the joints in the lower torso to be a little floppy. The knee joints are clicky and just feel right. I'm still fiddling with the arm joints cause I want to make it feel a little more tighter before finally making the hands.

Great job bro! I actually like the slimmer proportions of the Garada better than the bulked up SRC Mazinger ones. I always wanted a slimmer looking Mazinger Z figure, but they are just not made... }D

I even reduced the size of his crotch to make him look slimmer. If you looked at the older pics you'll see that the older one is a bit bigger, I wanted to make it smaller but it's gonna be affect the articulation if I reduce it much further. I'm beginning to understand the balance between figure proportions and articulation as I'm doing this project.

I'm a bit busy this week so it's hard to find the time to finish the hands. I'm working on a copper crown that's gonna take 2 weeks to finish. It's gonna be used in a parade during the holy week. I'm itching to finish my project but I have to prioritize my job first. I was already making the fingers when this job order came.

That crown looks Sick, nice Gothic touch, I like it! It looks like something an actor would wear in a music video by the bands Dimmu Borgir or Cradle Of Filth.

Come on mag... that's just wrong! That seems to be Jesus' crown of thorns bro! }| I know what it is. I wasn't trying to be sacrilegious or sarcastic. I like the look of that crown, the way the vines interlace like a Celtic ribbon accented by the thorns. When I see a crown of thorns I see a symbol of Martyrdom. Jerusalem was occupied by Rome during the time of Jesus' trial. Jesus was accused of claiming to be the Messiah, King of the Jews. He was arrested and incarcerated, beaten and tortured... a helluva lot more than what we're used to seeing on statues and pictures... ...the crown of thorns was not a usual tool of corporal punishment for anyone convicted of a crime in that era... it was just a Roman guard being an asshole who gathered some thorny vines and made it to mock Jesus, and it was a one-time tool of punishment and humiliation that was specifically designed to mock Jesus as "King of the Jews" and as such he was "crowned" as King of the Jews, and was forced to wear that crown all the way to his death sentence. By the time Jesus was nailed to his cross he was so badly messed up beyond recognition from all the cruel physical things that were done to him, including that crown of thorns beaten into his face and head. Even with all that, he still endured his suffering and won his case. I'm not religious, and I don't wanna discuss religion and politics in this forum; to each person his/her own beliefs. I meant no harm with my previous comment about that crown. zozo-mag

Magengar is actually right, the crown has a basic celtic knot in the design. The customer submitted the design so I had no choice but to follow what he wanted. I really hate doing these types of work because they take some time to finish. I'm actually doing 2 jobs, I'm making 50 sets of silver contact pins for an e-cig mod while making this crown. I'm hoping to get all of this done by this week since I've been work till 12 in the evening everyday just to speed things up.
