I can only imagine the difficulty of soldering different metal materials together. Sometimes it's necessary in order to achieve the results you're looking for between working parts. Nonetheless the challenge is fun and there's always new stuff to learn. zozo-mag Yep there's always something new to learn. The problem with copper is that oxydation occurs when it's exposed to the flame even when a flux is used. Also heating copper makes it soft and there's no other way to make it hard again without work hardening it again which is impossible when the part is already finished. I'm just gonna polish the Garada in the meantime.

I know Copper is flexible to a certain degree, I've seen videos on YouTube about people using copper tubing to make their own D.I.Y. Air Conditioners. But I never knew that it does not harden after it's been heated. And with that, I've just learned something new now. zozo-mag

Almost done with the polishing, it definitely looks better now. I'll continue polishing the horns and the hands on monday since I need to go out tomorrow as I've been cooped up in the workshop for far too long.

Here's my old Gaiking figure, the difference with the types of techniques I used on both figures are huge. The proportions are a lot better n the garada and if I would ever make another Gaiking figure it would look a lot different now.

Great job bro! Can't wait to see the Garada all shinny. The Gaiking reminds me a lot of the 1970's Mattel Shogun Warriors diecast figures. }D

Man, I forget how beautiful copper looks after it's polished. That shine is enough to make C3P0 envious with rage! After seeing that pic, it makes me wanna grab a can of Brasso and start polishing things around my basement! zozo-mag

@tmz I wasn't really going for the vintage look lol, but it was my first attempt at making a hand made metal figure. magengarAfter polishing copper, a little exposure to the air and with the oils on your skin it starts to oxydize and turn dark. If I ever want this kind of look I think I'd need to seal it with a clear coat paint.

If I ever want this kind of look I think I'd need to seal it with a clear coat paint. Interesting. I have exposed copper drain pipes in the restaurant kitchen where I work... they often get dark and grimy from all the heat and grease in the air that comes with typical daily cooking activity. I wash them with steel wool and detergent soap, then I buff them with a dry towel, so they'll look polished before an inspection. lol zozo-mag

I'm done with the polishing, I tried using turtle wax to see if it would slow down the oxydation. I sometimes wish I had a decent camera cause it looks a lot better in person than the pictures I took with my camera phone.

magengarBro you're making me blush lol. But seriously I just enjoy making figures and sharing them with people who love super robots. Thanks for adding me to your friends list. I'm having serious beard envy as I've been trying to grow some on my cheeks but have failed miserably! My girlfriend is allergic to my facial hair so I'm always forced to shave I'm gonna take a bit of time off from scratch building and recharge before starting on the next project. If I get my magnets delivered I'm gonna start using a different joint system on some of the parts.
