Original GX-31: anime style colors, less features.
GX-31V Respect for Volt in Box: revised, more features, new box style to match vintage box layout and toy is done in colors like the original DX Popy/Godaikin Voltes.
40th Anniversary Voltes: combination of the above two toys in anime color, but paint is metallic.
If I am wrong, on any of the details above, someone please correct me.
I like the toy version, so I would pick the GX-31V myself. It is very expensive though.
The original is the least expensive. There are many reviews of the original and the respect set, reviews of the new set should be coming soon once it is closer to release.
Look at the details and make your decision from there. Price, color, and features are what will be the basis for your decision.

Thank you for the information my friend I honestly didn’t like the GX31V colors because it’s not anime accurate & I don’t know anything about it while the 40th anniversary along with the original GX31 have the anime accurate colors and also I don’t know anything about those two lol but if the 40th anniversary got the best of both two like you said then I should get it because I always look for 3 things in a figure before I buy it Anime accurate, articulation & accessories unless there’s only one edition of the figure by one company then I must accept whatever they offer Please if anyone have more information share it

Mhm, didn't I read somewhere that one of the existing versions had weak articulation joints? As if, the non-ratchet moving parts would become loose over time. I don't remember if it was the GX-31 or the GX-31V though. Also, the original GX-31 has anime accurate-looking vehicles, while the 31V has one of the vehicles, the tank-like one, which looks a bit weird (the treads extend from below the machine, it looks like the tank is mounted on stilts ). The upcoming Voltes V while have the same weird-looking vehicle but, of course, if you're going to display the robot in combined form, it's just a nitpick, since it becomes unnoticeable

I have the GX50 Combattler V the shoulders joints got really loose with time, I hope the improve that on the 40th anniversary Voltes V, of course I will leave it in robot mode it will be more eyes catching on the shelf next to the GX50 and one day the GX43 Daimos I wish they do a GX43R for Daioms that’s why I didn’t buy one yet but im getting weaker with time

i could be wrong, but i dont think the 40th anniversary one comes in anime accurate paintwork but rather, it' base on the 31v colour-scheme.

Most likely darker. Those toys are photographed under really bright lights and then photoshop touch ups are done. For a good comparison check out the Bandai/tamashii press release pictures for the recent daitarn SOC recolor and then look at pictures in real life from when people actually got it.

I do appreciate an anime accurate approach on my collections too. I have GX-31 (in fact that is my first SOC), and intentionally skipped GX-31V, even though it has improved engineering.
In some cases, I also realize we can not push it too hard in anime accurateness, so there are always compromises here and there for me (your mileage may vary).
40th anniversary Voltes V will be a good option for you, considering things that I'm sure you already noticed. I'm also getting one, to update my collections (read: I might sell my old GX-31 if I'm very happy with the 40th anniversary version, when I got it later). Not really a fan of having more than 1 item from the same character in my collections. Hope you still can get a good deal for the 40th anniversary's.

just read from BBTS link that the colour scheme is based on the GX-31, my mistake. although the pictures shown sure looks like the 31V though. but it would be a little challenging preordering a 40th anniversary one at the moment, i suppose its due to the demand and many folks buying multiple copies, best shot is to wait until release and hope for stock to be available, but due the quantities released into the market, i dont think it's price will reach the heights of the current GX-31V.

You are absolutely right my friends the price for the 40th anniversary is so ridiculous I saw it on Ebay & Amazon they ask for 699$ come on that’s stealing it’s not limited and it’s not vintage why the price is so high as collectors we should not encourage those greedy sellers & do some thing about it , i might wait for it

as collectors we should not encourage those greedy sellers & do some thing about it The worst part is that the only thing we can do is do nothing - while some gullible idiots who are not one of us will buy from them, meaning voting with our wallets will not change anything at all in this case. Maybe Bandai should just reissue the damn thing once every two years until it no longer sells out in pre-order phase.
