Hello gang im in the process of doing a new display stand for my collection and honestly i don't know what to go for, Im using Cabinets since ever and it was great but some of the members advised me to try detolfs which make it harder for me so im asking you guys what is the best way for you to display your collection ?

definitely detolfs. unless you have some custom cabinet outfit then there's no question you use that.

Generally, only links to live auctions are prohibited, along with torrents and other not so legal things...a link for a display case should be fine.

that looks really cool. but cabinets tend to be expensive. you can probably get at least 4 detolfs plus led lighting for what one if those costs.

if you live in pigeon holes like us in my country, then custom cabinets are the way to go. not only they maximize your space, you could also have it designed the way you like it.

I have Detolfs. overall they are good. The downside is that there only 4 shelves which leaves some wasted space. You can add shelves which isn't always pretty. You'll need to buy the small hardware and the glass. I have 8 shelves in some of the cases.
When I started out I just wanted a door on the display case. Everybody that came over was asking if they could hold a figure/robot. Sometimes they didn't bother to ask.

For now, I cannot afford Detolfs, also I don't have a car to safely transport them since I often move from place to place every few years... ...so, Shelves and probably a bookcase are my only options. Therefore I wouldn't be smoking inside my room. My collection is still packed in boxes-- I don't trust the neighborhood where I live, and I live in a basement apartment, so my windows are always blinded fully covered. If my room were on the top floor of an apartment building I wouldn't have to worry about outsiders looking in unless they were up on cherry-pickers. zozo-mag

I have my things displayed in a couple Atlantic Oskar shelves. Not nearly as nice looking as Detolfs but for the time being they look really nice. I'm probably going to figure out how to mount plexiglass to the front of the shelving so no children can get into my collection! I'm just glad to finally have a place for all my things.

Got my custom built display figure last year, I believe you saw it before. It is built to fit the space available in my apartment. Once I move to a new house I will build another identical one, or sell my current cabinet to fund the build of a bigger one.
The one you like is ok, specially if you don't like to display anything at the bottom. But I'm not sure what are you gonna do with the bottom closed cabinet...I'm sure it can't fit all those boxes of yours.

for my collection i will need at least 4 detolfs with alot of LEDs, it will be the same price for a huge cabinet with LEDs but with the cabinet i can customize it i have a good amount of space maybe for 2 or 3 huge cabinets what i care about is practicality

i have a good amount of space maybe for 2 or 3 huge cabinets what i care about is practicality Personally, i feel that if you want to maximize your space, custom cabinets are the way to go. However, unless you are prepared to stay in the same location for the long haul, the trade-off is, you can't bring them along with you like detolfs when you relocate. And it is safe to expect custom cabinets to cost more. Imo, "off the shelf" cabinets are not much different from detolfs, except maybe it's bigger and comes with more bells and whistles. In the past, i have used a variety of detolfs, cabinets, shelves etc unless the cabinets fill up your intended space perfectly, you might end up piling up the top of the cabinets or any vacant spaces in between with boxes and stuff, can be an eye sore which might not go down well with your better half haha. So end of the day, i moved towards custom solutions. Edit: here's what i shared with another member recently. My setup for my current place. Instead of having display shelves that run all the way from the floor to the ceiling, i choose to convert the top and bottom most tier to storage compartments. No more empty space to stuff my junk

Some apartments have built-in China cabinets recessed into the wall, with glass panels and doors. Same thing with built-in book cases recessed into the walls.
If your a single guy, just moved into an apartment that has such a cabinet, that's a good way to go. If you're a married guy, or live with a girlfriend, well... good luck convincing her to let you use the China cabinet. lol
On the bright side: if you decide to move again, you can always find another apartment that has built-in China cabinets.

bro this is EXACTLY what i wanna do i always wanted to do the glass on the sides because its a very nice touch, its great to see some thing in your head in a photo now the explanation to the designer will be much easier i see you used the top of the cabinet as a storage area too i was planing to use the bottom only just like the photo i posted earlier kindly could you please share the measurement ? i came up with a huge measurements every one kept telling me its not going to work or at least make two cabinet and put them next to each other but the idea of dividing it from the inside is much better and neat guys please vote in the pull, its for the general knowledge
