Well, it makes sense that they would use metal for a design like this. This will most likely be webshop exclusive.

Is that the ZZ Gundam? Is the series any good? This is the Ex-S, or "Extraordinary Superior" Gundam. It's from Gundam Sentinel, which isn't an animated series but a novel. It was also Katoki Hajime's debut as a mechanical designer, so this is a VERY special design. I wonder if it'll incorporate the transformation gimmick? The variants will be quite interesting. I await the day we get the Deep Striker.

This figure is going to be only 15cm tall! Yet, it will cost over 23000 yen! So this is really Metal Build and Metal Composite price for a smallish figure. Granted, it has die-cast metal joints. But this is still very disappointing.

I was wrong. This is only priced at 17820yen (I think this is with Japan tax).
However, this is still pricier but smaller than Metal Build Exia and Metal Composite Gundam the Origin.
But this is not a webshop exclusive.

See here: tamashii.jp/special/metal_robot/People are saying that 15cm is 1/144 scale. Again, I prefer 1/100 at least. I want big-size toys. Metal Build and Metal Composite are what I like. I do remember that the Phycho Gundums in Metal Composite were only 1/144. But given their sizes, I did not care.

It looks great, it's a design that I really like, and it's cheaper than I thought it would be. I'm down for one!
It just reminded me that I have had an unbuilt MG kit of this design for at least the past ten years. ;-;

Looks like there is some confusion on this release. It is no Metal Composite. Its a Robot Damashii/Spirits with metal. So of course it is not 1/100 scale, but the closer to 1/144 Robot Damashii scale, like the Hi-Nu Gundam with metal parts before it. Since I don't have a S Gundam, I am quite interested.

I own one Robot Damashii figure but not these web exclusive "KA Signature" editions. Just like to know if they improved the quality on these KA Signature editions. Robot Damashii aren't scale. It's close to 1/144 but still smaller. I have this Ex-S Gundam in 1/144 scale from the original GFF line. It's much taller than 15cm. About an inch taller. Ex-S Gundam in 1/100, the MG kit, it's around 24 to 25cm or around 9 1/2 inches tall to the top of the head. The overall height is 28cm, almost 11 inches. I remember when they made the GFFN line, they added minimal metal parts to it and shrunk the scale. GFFN then became the GFFMC line if I remember correctly. And it was a change for the better. Cause I hate those early GFF figures. Overpriced and poor quality. The only Robot Damashii figure I have is the first version of the Unicorn Gundam. Bandai made a second version with improved articulation and sculpt. Have yet to play with these newer Robot Damashii figures. So can't comment on how acurrate they look in comparisons to the promo picture.

I completely agree with what supergetterv said.
No matter how you look at it, this Ex-S gundam is an 17000yen smallish figure. I am very disappointed. If I am paying this much, I want a somewhat sizable figure.
Die-cast joints are nice. But for that price, I want size.
But of course, there are fans who like smaller figures. Good for them~

No, the Ka Signature RD's are slightly larger than 1/144 scale from what I've seen. They all tower over their 1/144 GFF counterparts. For example, here's the Ka Signature Barzam compared to its old GFF counterpart: It's also worth mentioning that the Ex-S is one of the largest Gundams ever. If a Metal Composite of it were to be made in 1/100 scale, the sheer size and complexity of it would put even SoC GaoGaiGar to shame. And so would the pricetag. As for the 16,000 yen price, remember that the GFFMC RX-78-2 ver the Origin was 15,000 yen already, and that figure was only 18 cm tall and nowhere nearly as bulky and complex as the Ex-S. And it came out back in 2011, way before this recent price hike we've been seeing across all Japanese toys lately. So for me, the pricetag is very reasonable.

As for the quality of the Robot Spirits line itself, it's vastly superior to the old GFFs. Great articulation, solid POM joints, and nice hard ABS outer body. And the sculpt is much sharper as well. The only downside is the lack of diecast, paint apps, or decals... all of which are remedied by this Ex-S. Honestly, I would fork out the 16,000 yen for this figure any day over Sen-ti-nel's stuff. And for those who are curious, here is the old 1/100 MG Ex-S next to the DX Chogokin Aquarion. Not only is the Ex-S bulkier, but the 1/100 actually has gimped proportions compared to the Ka Signature figure because it has to accommodate for the transformation, so proportionally it has much smaller shoulders and stubbier legs. A true 1/100 GFFMC of this guy would eat SoC GGG for breakfast.

Hmm...I would gladly pay more for a larger figure. When it is small, all the details (paint job, decals) are less impressive. The QC tends to be worse when a figure is small, too.
But hey, more power to anyone who likes this.
I just thought it would be a big figure like Penelope....
