guys lets gather and cry together so no one will feel embarrassed its really about time if anything can bring the SOC line back to life it will be Voltron I know that the last two Gaogaigar releases weren't that we'll designed in terms of playability but was the SoC Gaogaigar release that bad?

I know that the last two Gaogaigar releases weren't that we'll designed in terms of playability but was the SoC Gaogaigar release that bad? GaoGaiGar itself is a beloved SOC release. It was Goldymarg that everyone was lukewarm at best on due to it being considered a $150 accessory that gimped the playability of GGG and was way too aware of the fact that 95% of its buyers would leave it in Hammer Mode.

That I can more than understand and hope that IF there will be more Brave releases, the figures they choose will be more sensible to real life design restrictions of making something in an anime into a functional toy. Those GGG accessories are only for the biggest of Brave Fanboys in which I consider myself as such. If only I can muster the amount of cash to get some other key figures.

guys guys lets just take a deep breath and relax i totally understand if some don't like it its their opinion, for me i like what im seen Pros are much more than the Cons so far, even tho its not a complete picture we still didn't see the blue lion (my personal fav) and the yellow lion yet, along with the accessories of course Bandai can include covers to cover the lions legs but even if that doesn't happen will it be a deal killer ? i don't think so the expectations bar particularly for this figure is very high since Bandai is knowing for acing combiners and for their brilliant engineering, and im sure they wont disappoint lets just wait and see It's not a matter of people not liking it. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, indeed. You can be disappointed by what you see. You can make predictions and speculations - it's fine, we do it all the time. But saying that "Bandai dropped the ball" (among less classy ways to put it I've read), given the manufacturer's history, when you know next to nothing about the toy, is just yelling at clouds. I'll be disappointed myself if Bandai chose to offer no way to hide the legs. But considering they've done anime-accurate figures with extra interchangeable parts in the past, I'm not going to throw my nerd rage at them until I actually have something to base it on. As you said : "wait and see". For some, lack of anime accurateness will be a deal breaker. The Toynami Masterpiece has many flaws, but if you just want a diecast Voltron to display in a A-stance, it's fine. Even if it's not anime-accurate, I'll probably buy it anyway if it's the best godaikin-inspired Voltron there is; even if it ends up being just a Toynami MP that can hold its own weight. Because I could use a second Voltron, so I can display the individual lions next to the robot. But for many it won't be enough. They'd probably go for the SOC if they had to choose, but if the SOC doesn't offer enough over the figure(s) they already have, why bother?

The madtoys one is better! Madtoys was done surprisingly well...one thing that could have been better was the finishes. I expect Bandai to be better, though. I would happily take a more articulated and updated version of the vintage Voltron. What is visible in the teaser photo points to this.

Lots of pressure is on bandai's shoulder for this voltron release. I'm an olds school type and still prefer the blocky popy type . You can really play with it, even little kids can play with it, unlike nowadays, where the toys even if its diecast breaks easily. it more like toys for big boys handle with care type. I hope this voltron from SOC is a bit wider, most I've seen are kinda skinny.

you guys are discussing that the mad toys or the toynami one is better ... but have you guys seen any pics of the SOC Voltron? other than the only one that we are seeing here which doesn't tell a lot! If there are any more pics that you guys are basing your opinion on please do share them here

In the 3 years that I've collected this is definitely the biggest announcement for me and many others. The buzz is awesome. But does anybody see the bigger picture?
If Bandai would want to bring the SOC line into the more mainstream market in the USA this is the perfect opportunity. Voltron has been a pop-culture icon here for 30 years. And his profile is rising thanks to the success of DreamWorks show. People who don't own any super robots are EXCITED about the Legendary Defender. The dads I know watch it with their children. My wife even told me that a few of her friends even watch after the kids are in bed. They can't wait to see what will happen!
Bandai already has distribution possibilities through Barnes and Noble in their Tamashii Nations section. Can't you imagine seeing the new Voltron, poised in a glass case, ready to go home with some would be enthusiast? Then, there's a chance that he'll get the bug to hunt down a vintage Matchbox... then a Vehicle Voltron... then, well, you get the idea. Not only is this an untapped market for Bandai, this could bring explosive growth to our hobby. But... is that what Bandai wants?

exactly guys we cant but our final thoughts until we see all of the figure, for me personally i like what i see, maybe they will include covers for the legs maybe the legs are removable maybe not
also about the KOB we know its not anime accurate and its more like Voltron from the 3rd dimension, but engineering wise the figure is brilliant i dont know alot of 11 inch combiners full of diecast that can do the high kick pose and keep it by its own, they also come up with a good way to hide the legs and two trays of accessories, that's why some of us think Bandai have to bring their big guns to take down the KOB
any ways its going to be a long 11 days till the reveal at SDCC
