the Icarus Voltron (KOB) is a different case
design wise they didn't copy anyone they came up with their own design their own accessories and their own engineering
they just didn't get a license for the character

Maybe the license use is designed to stagger with different releases. Many are buying the classic voltron because they can’t get the soc. After the distribution is done with the classic we may see the soc or something else come out.

I was thinking it was more of a control thing on the license issuer end. That way the market isn't over saturated. I mean we can hope, can't we. I am still leaning towards the J-works model kit if I get anything at this point.

Have you seen his other works? His Tetsujin & Taikwan V are phenomenal. The individual lions would have really funky proportions. Just look at the size of the head on the leg lions compared to the black lion's. Black is supposed to be the big one. Even with a bigger alternate black lion head, I can't see it happening without compromising the superb sculpt of the combined robot form, or having severely odd-looking lions.
It would make a fantastic non-combining figure, though. But then you'd have people complaining that a non-combining Voltron is stupid. Just like those butt-hurt Transformers fans every time a non-transforming Transformers (with a source-accurate sculpt) is announced. "Guuuuuuh... it's called TRANSFORMERS! Yadayadayadayada."
But were can you get that thing? Not a fan of the "anime" version with its bold black panel lines, but the metallic version shown on his Facebook page is gorgeous. I'd love to know where to buy it... then see the price and push it to the bottom of my "one day..." list with all the other cool things I can't afford.

Why was it passed on as WeiJaing, when the manufacturer is clearly stated as Fantasy Jewel? It is confirmed that they are part of WeiJaing? Personally, I think WeiJaing is overrated. I have their MPP10 and is nothing to laud about. Nothing screams high quality about it. Regarding this red lion, no tilt on the paws is a no no. At least, thanks to Ben, any interest I had before is put to rest. Anyways, I think we are getting too off topic since this is a GX-71 Voltron/Golion thread. The KO and that weird looking stature should get it's own thread and not cloud this thread.

Here was a great chance to establish himself as true artist by designing a stand alone non transforming lions that looks like ones in the anime....but nope! The Pirate has a zero creativity.
I still have a hope Bandai will make anime accurate super articulting non transforming lions in SRC form. Id buy those to display next to GX-71. A perfect companion. Oh, each SRC lion need to come with each corresponding pewter pilot.

SRC Voltron thats all im asking for, im not greedy like you joking aside, i think the GX-71 lions are fine, they have decent articulation and they are accurate to the anime, also could you imagine how small the lions will be in the SRC line ?

so now we have 2 KOs for the GX-71 1st one is playmate which is more like an early prototype for the GX-71 the 2nd one is fantasy jewel which is just a copy paste honestly if i didn't have the GX-71 and i cant go for it because of the prices, i wont go with these two since there is still hope for a reissue i will go with the Icarus KOB instead

on my soc voltron I notice now that the black lion shoulder clips both work well, originally my left robot shoulder clip wouldn't slide in, pushing in the rear part first then the front did work but now it slides over easily in any case. This year I have been using beard trim oil on various plastic/metal toy parts where friction is an issue and it works well, perhaps stiff clips will be aided by oil.

We just don't know exactly when the SoC will be reissued.

WEP who owns Voltron licenses to both Bandai and Playmates. WEP would have seen the Bandai prototype before the final licensing agreement was signed. WEP most likely liked the design and wanted to make a toy using the design. Since Playmates has the toy license, they would produce the toy. Bandai would get a % of the toy sale for allowing the design to be used. This may be why we are not seeing a Re-Release Of gx-71 at this time as WEP is more focused on the toys and the design will most likely make more money as a toy than as a $300 collectible. Stop saying playmates stole the design or it is a KO. It’s simply not true.

I thought as much as it would take 5 years I am guessing for any reissue to be done. Other than the knuchaku weapon for Voltron,I would so love an effect part version of the Blazing Sword. The one where Voltron clasps its two hands to materialize. I think Bandai kinda missed that opportunity.
