On mine I wiggled the shoulders a little as I push in the tab. It may be a matter of the tab not perfectly aligned with the slot so wiggling it until it finds the right spot helps a lot. I would avoid using tools to prevent scratches. E

I have to ask, even though I probably know the answer. Do you HAVE to remove the tails for arm mode?

I have to ask, even though I probably know the answer. Do you HAVE to remove the tails for arm mode? It's preferable that you do. Otherwise you risk breaking the tail tabs.

I did decide to put the number stickers on.The sticker for the yellow lion is a real pain in the ass to get to stay on! LOL

Excellent review Gold! It really legitimizes and sets a standard for a figure when reading one of your reviews. And I for one, really prefer to read a review rather than a video. Maybe I'm just old.

I would avoid using tools to prevent scratches. E Yeah, I tried to avoid it, but even with wiggling the shoulders, it just wasn't going in. The tool I use was made to not cause scratches, and it did its job well. After that the tabs secure without issue. One good thing about having two, is you can keep one in Voltron form and the others in lion mode, which will save you from wear and tear.

Got golion.
No denying it is a superb set, simple to transform, a nice lack of fiddly bits and not too many accessories to account for. I have one shoulder tab that locks in with a firm push, beware newly trimmed nails can get a bit sore! The other side I'm working on, in examining the mechanism there is not thing too complicated going on it just appears the two pegs have to clip around a middle peg.
Out of the whole set I have only 1 slight 'qc' issue, blue lions right front leg elbow ratchet is quite stiff compared to the others, that is a minor niggle and I'm sure it is not something that will cause issue, it isn't incredibly stiff so I don't think anything is going to break.
I have a small selection of SOC: daioja, godmars, godsigma, voltesV (40th), danguard ace and I feel voltron might be the best to my mind, hes relatively simple to transform, great poseability, no major extra bits to add/subtract, looks amazing, I can see the more casual toy collector jumping on this partly because it is voltron and it has a lot of charm with the 5 cats.

I have to ask, even though I probably know the answer. Do you HAVE to remove the tails for arm mode? You don't have too, but it will make life easier. They're not that hard to remove and put back in. Thank you Fixedinpost. I'm glad you liked the review. Gold

I have the KOB v1. It's a decent toy but if there's one thing I hate about it, it's they used the same mold for the body for the yellow and blue lions.

Okay we have got our golion made by Bandai. I am so happy for that. We now need the Dairugger and Albegas. What I would really love to see is Bandai picking the coolest looking robeast and making the correct scale to Golion to have some battle displays. This is what we have always been missing.

Thanks everyone. I'm glad you all liked the review. This is seriously one of the best Chogokin toys Bandai's ever released and the fact that it's Voltron makes it all the more awesome. I sincerely hope anyone who's a Voltron and a Chogokin fan gets one, despite the price it's insanely great. Gold, great review as always! Very thorough. The shoulder locks on my black lion lock in very solid and does not come apart unless I pull on the joint from the back. Are you using enough force to lock the taps? You should hear a click when it locks. I didn't do this at first and was disappointed that it didn't lock properly but now it stays in place. Also, I have scuff marks on both sides of the extended torso. Anyone getting these? Thanks Tturbozx66. I pushed the locks on the Black Lion as far in as I could, I'll give it a try again when I get home (in about 3 weeks.. lol.. sigh, work takes me out of town for long periods). Sorry to hear about the scuffing on the extending torso. I didn't see that on mine. Is it bad? Gold Here are the scuff marks. Not terrible but noticeable.

Re the non clipping shoulder issue. I notice on the left shoulder (I cannot seem to get it to clip, the right does with a firm push) the 2 little pegs that engage over a central opposing peg, I do notice a small 'burr' or sprue scar?? on the rear peg on its rear face, I am pretty sure this is not moulding as it is not present on the right shoulder, it measures approx. 1/3 mm and could well be the reason why that part will not slot in, maybe others can check and see if a non clipping shoulder corresponds with this little piece of plastic. Would be simple enough to cut/file that away.
Edit: filed away the tiny burr (I notices an equivalent scar on the right shoulder (front) peg. Unfortunately did not help.

Would someone mind taking a picture overhead of the shoulders with the tabs locked in? Just curious to compare it to mine and see how far they should really go when properly locked. Mine seem to be a bit more than halfway past the middle in.

Actually i find the KOB (the one on the right I presume?) looks better. More details than the one on the left. Not a big fan of Voltron, so i have little knowledge on anime accuracy and putting build quality aside, i do prefer the KOB one. At least looks wise.

Mine seem to be a bit more than halfway past the middle in. I can't take a photo now, but the tab goes ALL the way. At first I had it like yours, a little past the middle. But as mentioned previously, you kinda have to wiggle the arm/shoulder a little (to get it all lined up) as you're pushing the tab. Once you get it, it does make a rather loud click, and is 100% secure. This is probably the only minor issue I've noticed with the figure and wish the locking mechanism was easier.

Can we use SRC rocket pouch effect for 4-lions attack ? No. It's not possible unless someone made blast effects that could fit on all 4 lion heads plus the arms and legs.
