Just watched a review for this. Not impressed at this price point. Looks like some nasty gaps and loose joints
and please remember....

I'm with you man.. not that impressive for the price point.. i don't like the fact that it lacks ratcheted joints at the hips.. although i think there are other articulations not shown in the video (the knees, the elbows). and that unholy chest problem.. sigh. the problem with toynami's past products is usually plastic quality. this one appears to have good plastic quality, only bad gaps. but if it is made by Oritoys, im not surprised; their optimus prime has the same feel too. overall, i do like it, but ya, i can see now (with the video, not merely speculations) that it is not worth the price point. still getting the normal colour version tho

Yeah, i'm still getting the normal color one too. In the video, he didn't really show much, and came across as nit picky. Looks like he was in a rush, and just tried to force the chest in without lining it up. He's selling it here on ebay for a ridiculous amount. In the description he said its still sealed in the box, but obviously it can't be since its open for this review.

Probably different people or another set being sold. it's weird that the sticker said "1 of 300" on both boxes.. maybe that's just a statement instead of actual numbering..

Good catch. All I saw was the 1 of 300, and thought it was the same one.

the EX is about the same height as the NECA 18" Pacific Rim figures.. it's going to be a nice display piece, but i doubt it can do the kicking pose without hip ratchet.. still, an awesome year to be a Voltron fan! 1 released, 2 to go! (KoB and SoC)

Well I got to say, i'm really up in the air now because of the ball joints on the legs. Really would prefer a ratchet. Anyone have any experience with ball joints for the legs? Do they last over the years? Another review for lions.Ball joints on the hip has its advantage: more freedom to swing around the legs.. but to me i would prefer ratchet for something this expensive although i have yet to see any figure this size with ratcheting hip (except for those 3rd party TF combiners or Omega Supreme).. that being said, my Neca 18" Cherno Alpha and Gipsy Danger ended up as display pieces because of their size; it's weird to pose a figure that big in the kicking pose. For figures with SoC or KoB size, the kicking pose would make an awesome display, but for the size of the EX, i'd probably leave it at the knight-holding-the-sword pose. The size alone is already imposing.. Although my interest in the EX has diminished somewhat, i'd still get it for the unique look

It looks pretty cool. I like the way red & green lion's tails fold in, and the shoulder articulation is unique. But the gap in the chest opening constantly would be frustrating. And it drives me crazy when my robots scuff. I'd like to see if these problems occur for more reviewers. But there's no way I'm paying $400+ for this thing. I waited & got the Great Mazinger DX for $416 on clearance @ the Big Bad Toystore. This will be WAY discounted in 6 months or so. I'll probably pick it up then.

Quoted for truth. For 30 seconds, on-the-spot candid videos it's slightly annoying, though no big deal... but a 17min+ video review shot this way, it gets really tough to watch. I couldn't watch the whole videos because of this; I just skimmed through it. /nerdyrant Anyway, I couldn't help but post about it in the comments and it seems it was just an oversight. His next video will be in the correct orientation.

Looks like that's what it is. All the boxes say "1 of 300". Quite odd, coming from a company that's been in the game for a relatively long time. They had to know it could cause some confusion. I found a second (ended) Ebay listing from a different seller. If what it says is right, the actual number should be on a voucher, not on the box. PS : Yeah, looking at it more closely, it's definitely just a badly worded "300 made". There's too little space left between the circle frame and the numbers to fit an extra two for 3-digits numbers. P-PS : Yep, that's it. Same sticker on every boxes. Toynami confirmed it when he (the reviewer) contacted them.

It all depends on the plastic used, the weight of the figure and how much you play with it. The problem with ball jointed hips on big robots is for how much load they must bear they require very tight tolerances. A hair too loose and it's a rag doll that won't stand. Just a hair too tight, and you get NECA style legs falling off permanently broken. This is ok for an inexpensive plastic action figure designed to be played with. Even a high end one like a Figma or SHFA. But for a $400-$500 limited edition large collectors figure? I'd be worried. This thing looks fantastic, and probably would be, at half the price. At MSRP though, it's almost unpalatable. Which is a shame. It is great seeing the 3p transformers teams branching out into other classic robots. We want more of that. Lots more. Just not at this price/value ratio.

I said the same thing in the video comments. His defence was that it's worth 500 dollars because it's a rare piece, which in my opinion does not justify the cost at all given its poor articulation and lack of solid joints.

Well me lurking at these boards, why am I not surprised at the results? Way too much for a structurally faulty design just by the lower body of this Voltron not having any sort of ratcheting to balance the figure and its apparent top heavyness. And then there are the gaps and everything else.

There are some things not covered in the current video of the Stealh EX, but rather visible in said video: - the leg lions connector ports seem to have additional articulation: possibility of more than 90 degrees knee bend? The promo pic with the EX kneeling showed this extended pose. - in one of the promo pics showing the EX from behind, the red lion elbow joint is able to extend (the red part connected to the elbow joint can be seen extended out of the lion body) to give a much more bent elbow articulation. - there's some kind of groove where the hip joint of the black lion looks like as if it can slide up or down. Not sure what that can accomplish..
I for one can't wait to get this and the SoC. As impressed as I am with the KoB, I just find it too close in look with the SoC for a 'traditional' Voltron, and too bland for an 'alternate' look Voltron. Would have gotten the KoB if the SoC didn't exist.
