I don't think this will be a head bust, the details on the eyes looks to be smaller than usual. To me it seems its gonna be another update version of the GX-01 or any of its version at this point in time but with more range of articulation SRC style or an improve version of that(if the open gap between the head and neck is any indication of it). if it is i might be interested, the GX-01R that i posses its showing its age, specially if compare to the GX-49 Shin Mazinger Z and the GX-47 Energer Z. Its the most possible outcome with Bandai's resent improvements in engineering and sculpting like for GaoGaiGar or Voltron/Golion not to mention that the SRC line price tag is knocking the SoC door line at this point. question is how much its gonna cost, possibly at this point around close to $200 maybe?.

I hope so a new SOC Great Mazinger should be significantly taller compared to Mazinger than what we have now with Getter Dragon and Grendizer much taller compared to Great Mazinger then what we have now.

If Bandai is serious about going head to head with Hot Toys, then they really need to include damaged parts..

kaus, the mazinger z never looked like the toys bandai has made. mazinger z looked a lot more like that west kenji figure you posted, the real look of mazinger. bandai always makes it exagerated, too beefy, not like it should look. only time bandai made a correct sized mazinger was with the shin mazinger soc gx-45, because that one was not thin in the show.

I think some of us just want one modern chogokin Z that represents skinny Toei version.....
I mean tbh, yes its NOT the prettiest but very charming some of us. Very nostalgic. If theres that hong kong phat vinyl version, many many modern muscular american super hero version,
why not the original TV? I think there some bros including myself over two decades for a Toei Z, eversince Bandai showcased the prototype in the early days.

Would I be correct if I assumed that this will look like the popy version 4/etarnal heroes mazinger?

Mazinger Z had many faces in his TV show and there certainly isn't one single definitive version of it. But most of us would perceive him as some beefy hunk of metal because Mazinger Z was all about 'STRENGTH' and 'POWER' Mazinger Z may had also represented 'SPEED' at the time, but with many new so called 'real robots' populating that category, having a slick, speedy looking Mazinger Z just feels awkward, it just looks outdated, not looking timeless as what Mazinger Z should be. I do agree that Bandai's over doing it especially with their SRCs, but the proportion of the SOC Mazingers are just fine. And don't forget that SOCs are not about making anime accurate figure. It's more about creating modern version of these vintage robots. When it comes to the anime accuracy, Bandai had already nailed it with their Jumbos and Chogokins in the 70s. mot at all! bandai has never made a good anime looking mazinger z. the show is a bad reference because it had a lot of different artist in every episode mazinger changed. thats why bandai is using the movie mazinger z vs ankouku daishogun version, because it is constantly drawn the same way. also that mazinger z look belongs to toei animation and not bandai. thats probably why bandai cant make it anime before, because of license issues.

Man, all of the sudden I'm all hype for this.. sure it would be way better if it's a new super robot, but hey! butter than nothing. I can't wait to see more pictures.

come on guys we had a similar discussion in Golion thread
manufacturers go to the illustration by the original creator of the show, for example the illustrations that came with the DX Great Mazinger, manufacturers NEVER go to the anime, ova, or movies specially when they are old, because they had many artists working on it from episode to episode not to mention its insanely hard to keep the same proportion and the details of the robot from scene to scene
the best anime accurate Mazinger z you can find is the DX, the GX-01R, and GX-45 Shin Mazinger
