I'm just hoping that it can finally be released. Bandai is going to make money and the license holder will as well. Heck they have me over a barrel for two of their Voltron pieces.
I then ordered one of the KOB 2.0 things.
I figure collectors will more than likely go for both if they are both good.

if they release it good for them and for those who didn't get it, however they wont make huge numbers if they release it now because every hardcore Voltron fan already own the first version some collectors even got two units, the improvements on the official release is good but its not enough for us to get it over the SOC (unless if your figures budget still strong lol)
the best time for them to release it in my opinion, is between Feb and March

More die cast isn't always a good thing.
Just saying.

the more pics i see of this bot, the more I dislike it. Yes I literally cringe when I see it, my natural reaction. Its style (lines, proportion, and overall sculpt) is not my thing. Also, the crispness of the sculpt and the color of the paint is just not quite there. Didn't like it when I first saw pics few years ago, didn't like it when I handled it in person, and don't like it still now. The upcoming version is slightly better. I'm just glad the SOC is released next month because it looks like the SOC is everything I want from a Voltron toy!
Now that this figure is fully on WEP's radar, I don't see them releasing it legally. It might still get released but my guess would be that it'll be from the backdoor through asian outlets only.

More die cast isn't always a good thing. Just saying. I thought Toynami taught us that lesson. It isn't just how much die cast you have. It's how and where you use it. The robot needs to be able to support itself without any undue stresses or balance issues. Too much die cast in the wrong places weakens the robot if it is poorly designed.

guys guys for the 2nd time this one is NOT the official release its CLEARLY a mod version (i talked about this mod version ages ago with member Coletron ) so you are judging on some one work on the first version of the KOB, NOT the official 2nd version MT did this is the official photos from MT you can see CLEARLY the different in colors specially the shade of red between the two versions also the different in the shape of the wings and the waist last thing when did MT say they will include more diecast ? they DIDN'T say anything like that in any of their social media accounts that i know about, the figure already have a great engineering all the changes are cosmetic nothing is done for the materials or their percentage i totally understand if some don't like it, simply its not their cup of tea , but that doesn't change the fact the KOB is the best Voltron ever created yet, until we test the SOC version of course

"guys guys for the 2nd time this one is NOT the official release its CLEARLY a mod version (i talked about this mod version ages ago with member coletron )". S_Gokin is correct. The KOB "Voltron" pictured above is a custom that I found on the Google+ Voltron community 3 months ago. I love Voltron. I have since 4th grade, when I watched the show every day after school. I don't exclusively collect Voltrons, but I have quite a few: I've got 2 Golions(1 new), 2 Matchbox(1 from my childhood that my son enjoys, 1 sealed), a Matty Collector, a giant Trendmasters and a Toynami 20th anniversary that I haven't opened yet. I recently sold a really beautiful Kangnam King Lion. To me, the KOB is a standout among these. Here's why: - Unique look: Its unconventional appearance isn't for everyone. But this futuristic reshaping of the classic has set the paradigm for upcoming Toynomi & Sideshow Collectables releases. Some people want an ultra-modern style instead of an homage to the past.
- Durability: I kid you not; my 7 year old son plays with mine, and it's still in incredible shape. Nothing has broken or scratched. It even fell 5 feet from my mantle to the carped unscathed. There are no loose joints. Nothing is wobbly. It is truly solid.
- Dynamic engineering: I love touches like articulated toes, and metal wings. It's incredibly posable. A towering, hefty combiner that can hold a high kick! It's spectacular.
I can't wait for my GX-71. I hope it's as beatifully crafted as my Great Mazinger DX. And I hope it's loaded with diecast. I also hope I can display it doing a head kick. And I hope it can perform a split in all directions. And I'm hoping for a 360 swivel waist. I certainly don't expect everybody to collect countless renditions of Golion. But how many Mazingers/Grendizers/Getters have you got? The KOB is completely different from what we're expecting from Bandai. Is it better? I'm not saying that. But it does stand alone in so many ways.

I'm gonna chime in in the whole debate about the greatness of the kobe over the soc or vice versa. Hands down soc even at lesser quality wil be a better piece. I have 3 Mt KOB'S and all three one from the first run. And 2 from the second have broken and I mean broke right out of the box.evey red lion inn have has broken joints springs don't hold the heads feet falling off the Lions. These are junk. There is no way I received 3 all at different time intervals and all have major breakages and they all feel flimsy and I only displayed one of them. This is why I'm I have done such heavy modification because this is really our modern lionbot. I have a collection of voltron variations that is one of the largest I've seen and I do not think this toy could stand with the soc voltron. If the voltron is as good as the gosldsigma or Goddard or if it's as good as daltanious then kob will be Ko'd before the bell finishes ringing. I have to chime in because some people my buy kob instead of voltron which would be a mistake. If you can afford both then it's worth having but if it's a choice between the two it's voltron all day long. You will be happy at first when you see kob but when the feet start falling off and the glue starts coming undone and joints break in half with before the money moon is even over your Gonna wish you bought voltron. All that being said it is a fun project toy if you want to customize your own voltron and have access to a 3d printer.

I received a email from LCM, both Back up on LCM. I had canceled my pre order after 90 days.
So tempting, both versions look great (re tooled KOB and blk version) I really like the orig. KOB and they fixed the few gripes I had on the new version. My Voltron budget is being maxed out....
