Oh I passed SoC Blue Gale because I heard it was bad and part fell off easily. This one looks good but I don't want to collect whole line. I do really like my Iron Gear thing is straight solid. I'll try to snag Blue one on secondary market.

Got my Xabungle today. Unfortunately I have not had much of a chance to handle him, just a few minutes at lunch break, but it overall seems nice. Less metal than the SOC, despite being a good 33% taller at least. Doesn't feel quite as solid, either, but again the SOC was a pretty weighty diecast chunk for its small size. A few bits (like the rear hip skirts) pop off quite easily and overall it has more of a model kit feel than the other HMR's I've handled like the Regult and Glaug. I'll fiddle with it more tonight but so far I'm not sure that it'll actually be replacing my SOC in my collection just yet.

Thanks quin for the feedback. I had this on PO but had to cancel to save $ for baikanfu and DX combattler. Had the hardest time canceling it too! THen I convinced myself to cancel it by looking at my SOC, and telling myself that I don't want to get into yet another HMR sub-line.
From the trays that I saw, it has less parts swapping compared to the SOC, right? I remember the SOC came with real/bigger wheels as well as fake/smaller ones.

From the trays that I saw, it has less parts swapping compared to the SOC, right? I remember the SOC came with real/bigger wheels as well as fake/smaller ones. Unfortunately now that I've handled it more, I can confirm that it has required parts swapping for transformation (the SOC did not). You cannot transform Xaby into his car+trailer mode without using a separate piece. It's the only piece on the entire figure you have to partsform. The SOC did come with more parts, it's true, but 50% of them were so you could display it without the perfect transformation parts so it would look nicer. The HMR is similar in that it has non-transforming leg-wings, but for the rest you are stuck with the transforming parts. The transformation is also less elegant - for comparison I pulled out the SOC and had it in combined trailer mode in about 2 minutes. The HMR took me about 15 minutes because I had to struggle with the hingest on the jet nosecone to fold it away. The hinges are ludicrously tight and the only thing you have to grip onto are the thin hip skirts so it's a dicey affair. Speaking of the hip skirts, the rear one will pop off constantly while you're posing the figure. It's infuriating. While the figure is definitively more poseable than the SOC (it has not only a balljointed waist, but an ab-crunch as well!), it's easily less fun, especially if you have the transformation parts on it because they will be shedding constantly. The biggest offenders are the aforementioned rear skirt, but also the leg-wings (the transformation ones pop off with the slightest pressure) and the buttflap trailer cover (which will come off along with the rear skirt, but more easily because it will clash with the backpack when moving the waist). If you put all of the non-transformation parts on it's slightly less annoying, but then you're losing half of the functionality of what should be a relatively simple transforming figure. Overall I'd have to say I'm not particularly impressed with the HMR Xabungle It's more fiddly than it should be for being so much bigger than the SOC (Which feels far more solidly built), and the halfassed way it handles the transformation parts is a huge bummer. I'd be happier if it had been half the price and didn't transform, frankly, because I don't think I would ever keep any of the transformation parts at hand. If you've got the SOC, keep it, love it. It may be smaller and less dynamic but ultimately I think you have the better figure, plus you've got more options for in-scale figures already.

Thanks for the review, Quinjester. I had cancelled my pre-order a few days before release because I feared it would be less than stellar in-hand. I'm somewhat relieved to hear that likely wasn't a mistake. I'd be happier if it had been half the price and didn't transform, frankly, because I don't think I would ever keep any of the transformation parts at hand. Same here. I really don't care about the transformation. I just want a nice, solid, poseable Xabungle. Really, the Blue Gale was always going to be the weakest of the Xabungle line, give the crazy transformation. Which is too bad, cause it looks like they really nailed the colors this time around. I expect the rest of the line to be solid, though. Galliar is simple and has nothing it tries to hide, so that should have no problems. I'm all in for Timp's Government type. And hoping for Brockary and Galapagos besides.

That's really quite disappointing that they didn't handle the transformation better. I guess the trend is going towards more articulation and sacrifice on sturdiness. There are less and less folks like me who prefer a solid figure with nice fit and finish over articulation. The more recent non-transforming HMRs like the monster and the destroids are simply awesome, since they are sturdy, fun, and articulated. For transforming figures, something's got to give.

I got my Xabungle today and actually like it. I don't have the SoC Xabungle to compare but do have quite a few SoCs, so I think I generally know what to expect. It isn't really heavy despite being decently tall, and some things do fall out a bit more easily than they should (e.g., the back skirt), but it looks pretty nice on my table right now loaded up with weapons. I can't speak to the transformation as I haven't tried it yet and may not for some time, but I didn't buy it for that particular mode.

moar dakka, okawara-style...Got it about last week, after my pw expired. Anyway, HMR Xabungle is ok and nice. My notes below: -- Lotsa articulation. -- alot more parts and accessories than HMR Dougram. -- however, that means alot more parts to install/de-install and stuff than HMR Dougram. -- removable but static wheels on the arms and hips. they don't roll at all, and needs to be removed when installing arm-cannon. -- a bit fiddly shoulder-weapons installation. Haven't done any of the transformation and prolly won't, either. Just cuz I've never really like the vehicle-modes and the wheels don't roll at all, anyway. edit/add: btw, unlike the front and hips flaps (and the Scopedogs'), the buttflap of Xabungle doesn't flip/rotate up and will get dislodged when the thighs hits it while moving the thighs backwards a bit.

Good to see more from Xabungle series. I love my HMR Xabungle but will likely pass on the other bots from the show, unless they make an Iron Gear.

Very nice. I passed up Timp as its design was a bit too strange...mind you, it's still available and generally pretty cheap.

Brockary! Whoa! I figured it was coming, but wasn't expecting it this soon. I don't think we even saw any protos or teasers this time. Looking forward to this and Galliar.
