If you need more info, check Samueldecal Facebook. Everything is there, from the news and video footage from Chinese authorities.

Unfortunately I don't see Bandai getting the hint and really making an effort to release kits people really want.

On August 2018, Bandai shutdown DABAN factory. And then, three months later they did it again.
This time, they nailed...... SUPERNOVA! LOL
Well done, Bandai! Well done...

And bandai still doesn't get it. Many of these KO makers catering to a market of people who want different kits than what bandai is releasing. People want side story kits, and alternates, and just plain more MG kits. For example: people have wanted a MG Blue Frame 3rd for years to the point that the few units that came out from DM are going for $400 when they show up. Instead bandai gave us the blue frame type d and the mirage frame noir, both rehashing existing striker pack accessories. I personally have wanted MG kits of the Gold Frame Amatsu, Sword Calamity, Dreadnought, Blue Dual, and Verde Buster Gundams. Instead we got some of the worst amateur hour official kitbashes in the forms of the NG 1/100 librarian Gundams. At least bandai is releasing the Dynames......after 9 years and too many recolors of the exia, 00, and QANT.

That's why big companies gradually lose their market to smaller and more innovative companies. IDK how long Bandai can monopolise the market with their IP rights. But imagine a day when KO companies tell Jap gov to make the market more "fair", and in return Jap gov can collect their tax, what would Bandai do?

Uuuuuuuhhh... for as long as they own the IP to Gundam, which is forever until they sell it. They will just keep going after the 3rd party KO. If what I read is true, that China is becoming strict and are cracking down on bootlegs, then eventually, all the 3rd party KO will produce are modified versions (like the Ventienne Destiny/Barbatos). It's just not the same as the original designs. What you're imagining will never happen.

I for one have no illusions that Bandai will never stop going after bootlegs, but until they address the reason bootlegs exist, they will keep existing. I think a great middle ground would be conversion kits instead of full knock offs, NOT made of resin but of quality plastics of course. There are a few small companies doing those with mixed results.

I believe human is the most creative being, and being human means each is interested in what best serves their interest. If someone out there figures out how to deal with IP and at the same time creates mutual interest with other people, that person is more qualified than me to answer the question when is the time to take over Bandai's market. It would be interesting to see what chinese people come up with, given the challenge atm (Bandai = own). Modified version is wise move.

The 3rd party market around transformers is crazy successful and operating completely in the open. And most 3rd party companies are making better versions of the figures too. Not sure how these companies are operating

Do you really believe that the Japanese government will say ok and allow 3rd party KOs to use Bandai's designs just because they paid taxes for it? The Japanese government does not own the Gundam franchise. It is a privately owned franchise hence the PROPERTY in IP. And there are laws that are in place that has to be followed even by China, where the 3P KOs are located. Yes, fine, the 3rd party may get the bigger share of the market if they produce what Bandai won't. But Bandai can stop them as well. Do you think this cease and desist can just happen without the cooperation of China's government with Bandai's request?
