That price is absurd. It costs less than $500 for two sets in Japan. I'm not against people making a profit, but their P-Bandai prices are way too high.

Does anyone know why the price is so high? It's nice and all but I would honestly rather have a regular Metal Build based on the design of the RG Nu Gundam. That thing is damn pretty.

That thing is damn pretty. given that the metal build is around the cost of 5 times of their Mastergrade counterpart (both around 1/100 scale) The metal structure is at 1/60 scale which is at Perfect grade size, so it's you time that by 5. 1/60 is pretty big compare to a 1/100.

I'd guess it is the engineering and the complexity of the molds and assembly. Isn't it like 2000+ parts? All that has to be designed, then they have to make the molds and casts for the plastic and metal, etc. Then they have to get people to put that thing together with the quality control people expect from a $1,000 figure. Of course, it could be cheaper than I believe and they are charging it because they can. However, I keep remembering the Bandai Space Shuttle Endeavour they built years ago. They did a second run of the Apollo rocket, but never the shuttle. They said the shuttle was just too expensive to make and they weren't making money on it (and that's after the production line was in place).

You guys want to cry? You don't have to watch the whole video, just the few seconds at the start:

They said the shuttle was just too expensive to make and they weren't making money on it (and that's after the production line was in place). I heard from some review that PG kits with high parts count can hit around 1000 pcs. So this Metal Structure Nu is around twice as many parts, with a good number of them being metal. With the likes of SOC GX-88 and MP-44 Prime hitting the US$350 range, the Nu selling for mid US$800 is actually not as ridiculous as it seem. Just that you had to be darn lucky to be able to secure a preorder at normal retail price. And the web exclusive Funnels even drive the insane price to new heights, letting and sellers that have access to them mark them up as much as they want. Don't like the price for sure, but this release sure made a mark in the industry as a conversational piece, and the most expensive Gundam toy yet. You guys want to cry? You don't have to watch the whole video, just the few seconds at the start: That does not look like a Metal Structure Nu Gundam though. Not at all. Metal Structure weights around 2kg and almost twice as big as the one the kid torturing. Doesn't even have decal prints and any opening panels.

BTW ShowZ store has one up for sale at $1699 if anyone is interested. I'm gonna pass on this insanity.

Son, if I had anything left to give, I add you to my will. I can’t believe I was able to score both the fins and the Gundam at MSRP.

It surprises me it took so long to sell out. I think it was fast. It took what? A day or 2? Again, it could have been faster if Bluefin announced ahead of time it was gonna be available locally prior to opening orders in Japan. I think a lot went and got it through proxy which took some of the possible sales locally.

Better for me, though as I saw Daniel’s message 12 hrs. after he posted it.

At long last, I just got it in the mail today from Japan. I'll open it over the weekend and post some pictures.
