I had been hearing about this upcoming series for a few months, but haven't seen a dedicated thread yet. Seems like they'll be taking the METAL BUILD approach with a die-cast frame and high quality plastics for the outside of the figure. It seems like they'll be roughly in scale with the DLX Transformers series (ex. Bumblebee is approx. 5m, Ingram 1 is approx. 8 m and the figures are 8 and 9 inches respectively), and I have really been enjoying the DLX releases. So far they've shown 3 version of the Ingram from Patlabor, and Evas 1 and 2 from the Rebuild of Eva movies. Prices are great too for modern gokin. www.taghobby.com/archives/413008

ToysTV already had a video review of the test sample some weeks ago, if you want more details...in Cantonese.

I have the Ingram Unit 1 and found it to be so bad during the review that I didn't even make the video public and shared it with ThreeA to see what they thought. Not my cup of tea unless some changes are made prior to final release.

Wow, that's really sad to hear. Are there any flaws in particular that stood out? I really like my DLX Transformers, so I was looking forward to this release since Bandai still hasn't given us a Metal Build Ingram or Griffon yet. I guess I'll see how word of mouth goes when it's released, I hope they took some of your feedback into consideration Tj.

I guess I'll see how word of mouth goes when it's released, I hope they took some of your feedback into consideration Tj. I'm sorry, man. I should've been more specific in the first place. - Real lack of articulation. Not to modern standard at all. - The lights on the shoulders... it's hard to describe via text but I'll try. Basically the parts for this aren't molded mirrored but cloned and when it comes to the lights there's a small board inside of the siren the has the battery compartments, LEDs, and of course the off/on switch. On each shoulder there's a slot for the board to slide into but since each siren compartment is clone molded and just flipped around on one side you can't slide the board into place proper without losing the ability to turn it on and off by pressing down on the siren because the shoulder armor itself also cloned has a hole in the spot that the button is supposed to press down on that side as well... TL:DR one shoulder siren is a hot mess due to not mirroring parts affecting fit and functionality. - The detailing is just non-existent and shows a real lack of love put into the product. It's not a direct comparison but for the sake of just making my point; where the Yamato is a true labor of love in this regard this is the exact opposite. No neck pistons, the pistons in the feet are a single, molded piece so short that there's seemingly always a visible gap between the foot and front of the leg, etc.. On the flip side I noticed that they added really cool small stuff to parts that don't even matter in the slightest like actual cloth-covered wiring on the extended wrist... the f**k? - The Alphonse docking not really being as accessible as it should be, having no lever to move the seat up, and no locking mechanisim to hold it in place when moved up. Those are just a few things off the top of my head buy yea overall I was pretty severely disappointed in play. I address my concerns to them directly so we'll see if anything changes but yea... no bueno.

Thanks for the elaboration! It really is a disappointment to hear about these shortcomings, I hope that future figures in the line are up to the standards set by the DLX series.

That was exactly my mindset; that the transformers quality would just transfer right over. It's pretty disappointing but again we don't know what will happen by the time this actually releases so fingers crossed.

ROBO-DOU eva 01 Pre order open yesterday at HlJ for a September Release at 15200 yen www.hlj.com/robo-dou-eva-unit-01-rebuild-of-evangelion-thz92304But i really hope all the bad point KumaStyle reported will be gone or revised otherwise it will be very disapointing line for ThreeA (all the problem remind me a lot of Wave W.H.A.M Alphonse by the way)

I shared the review of that one with them and was asked not to publish it which I have 0 problem abiding by since I'm personally hoping at least things like the pieces that don't connect correctly and the like aren't the norm. We'll see.

I've been watching Mecha Gaikotsu's reviews for a long time now, and he comes off as honest overall. I tend to put some stock in what he has to say. But these reviews are always filtered through a subjective lens, so it's just what you're personally looking for in the toy, and what you're personally annoyed by. The limited ankle pivot notwithstanding, he actually got me hyped about this figure. Preorders at HLJ are gone, but the price (for U.S. buyers) is better at BBTS or straight from Threezero. I saw that review and it has me hopeful for the Alphonse again, I hope they addressed the issues TJ had with his copy. I was going to ask if any of our Chinese-speaking board members could tell if the Chinese language reviews were favorable? I'm really hoping the Evangelion releases are good since they seem like the most screen accurate Eva Gokins to date. I always found the Tamashii Specs too small and oddly proportioned for my taste and the berserk face on the Robo Dou looks killer. Just a shame Optimus Prime and Soundwave are going to be towering over her. I would really like to support the Robo Dou line since it seems like Three Zero is treating it like a kind of sister line to the DLX Transformers, which have been fantastic; and at the $120- $200 range, they're the best priced high end Gokin line out there right now.

Between my Brave Gokins and Yamato's giant, the only way Threezero could make me buy this one is by announcing that they'll be releasing a Type Zero.
Come one. ThreeZERO Type ZERO Do it already.

Decided to PO the Robo-dou Eva 1 at the last minute since I missed all the MB Freedom Concept 2 PO's. I have the SOC and the MB Eva-1 so I thought I'd like to get a more screen accurate Eva-01 gokin. Also, PO's for the Robo-dou Ingram Units 2 and 3 were announced this week, and it's 1 body but parts swappable to create either Unit 2 or 3. I like the Unit 2's look better, so if I go for it, I'll probably just display it as that one. Here's hoping we get the next DLX Transformer announcement soon too. www.threezerohk.com/product/mobile-police-patlabor-robo-dou-ingram-unit-2-unit-3-compatible-set/

It would be nice if 3Zero would ship the Ingram-1's that were supposed to ship in May I don't feel like ordering any more of these figures until I can actually get my hands on the first one they offered.
