Easier to find and not as ridiculous, but still hover around the US$300-ish range. As for Voltes V, keep checking Amazon Japan, as well as the domestic stores when they get their stock. You might get lucky and score one without the high DHL shipping. Since DX Combattler V is still fairly easy to find, chances of having more DX Voltes V floating around is high. Don't lose hope.

Love drifts away...and back! Took advantage of the recent available stock in the market. Still way over retail price, but factoring all the crazy price for DHL, it would come up overpaying around $60-70 if I were to be able to snipe one at retail price (yeah right). Was going to hold out for the GBP-1S Focker release, but given Bandai had scrapped many of their displayed demo pieces (HMR Tomahawk & Phalanx!), the GBP-1S Focker may not be a thing in reality. Meanwhile, I can still get this 1st release with the stand right now, so I took the plunge. Still get the feels after all these years with this song and Focker's scenes. "Welcome home, buddy." Whats the GBP Focker? The old yamato? Can those GBP packs fit in the DX Bandai? Crazy if they do but just curious to know.

While I haven't tried, I doubted it will fit the Bandai DX. Their VF-1 shapes are quite different when it comes to fitment, even though they look very close at a glance.

From what I heard in some HK toy shop podcast, Bandai actually made more of Focker 1S, considering it being the most popular and sort after VF-1 of all. Shops got more quota and stock for it than normal, and even had a 2nd batch shipment instead of just one. If you search around, there are quite a few at US$303-307 listings on ebay with free DHL/FedEx shipping. Amazon Japan marketplace also have some at 25000yen (though won't ship overseas). The only thing that hurts on ebay is the additional tax. Otherwise US$303 shipped is actually not that bad. Considering it is close to impossible to get one at retail 19800yen, and most shops charge a lot for DHL, you are at least looking at $250-260 shipped if you got super lucky. $50 above retail is not that outrageous for the rest of us mortal humans that can't F5 fast enough. But an additional $25 ebay tax on top made the deal less appealing. I actually wanted to succumb to one, but despite my eagerness, I just hold it off for a moment. Since it might share the same faith of my previous order DX Voltes V. It shouldn't...Mine arrived just fine from AE. Depends on the vendor. Check their shipping policies/procedures.

I really wonder how these will be distributed. Will they bundle the VF-1J with the GBP armor for those who missed out on the VF-1J? Or will they reissue the VF-1J at the same time the GBP armor is released?

Boy, I hope it's going to be released as a bundle! 1J is too expensive in the aftermarket. The hypothetical bundle would probably be less than the current asking price for the 1J.

Just opened my VF-1S Focker last night and tinkered with it a bit in fighter and gerwalk mode. Already noticed the flaw with the legs and folded up arms pegging together to the back plate. While mine is still holding pretty good in fighter mode, I can see those rectangle pegs eventually get loose from multiple transformation since its all just friction on a straight peg (or worsen with the Fast Pack). Another thing I wish they improved is the horizontal upper knee swivel. Just posing the legs a bit in gerwalk already see that swivel taking a lot of weight in many gerwalk A stance. Almost feel like it needs to be a ratchet instead of a friction swivel to make the legs rock solid (looks like there is enough room in the thigh for a ratchet swivel). Now finally handled one (even though I had the 1J since released, but still in the box), I can see why this line sold out so fast. It actually has good weight to it, and definitely looks more refined than the Yamato 1/48. But similar to some of the Metal Builds, as well as the older Frontier DX valks, they share the same fate as something you may transform once or twice, and just leave in display as your favorite form. Some of the key joints and tabs just don't seem to hold up well for repeated fiddling and can wear off prematurely. Harder and harder to find toys that can look awesome and also plays awesome these days. Attachments:

The best rendition of Macross valks to-date... My ONLY gripe is that the landing gear covers are a PiTA to open. I thought I was going to snap mine in half.

I'm waiting for the second speed pack and will likely leave the fokking Fokker in Fighter mode.

Now that I see the TV Fast Pack in person, I have to say again, color is way too dark. Its even darker than the Yamato 1/48 Movie Strike Pack , as nice (and pricey) as the TV Fast Pack is.

I used to a completist but just can't do it anymore...have way too many robots and most of them still need to be unboxed and displayed still (this includes all of the Yamatos).

I will confess ahead of time that the glass on my display cabinet for the Valks will be stained when the VF-1D arrives.

Can anyone recommend where to get the DX 1s at a reasonable price? Saw on ebay @ US$ 308.66 shipped. Is that reasonable? TiA

That’s a pretty good price. Even on Mandarake it’s 27000 yen plus shipping.
