I'm from the US and have no idea about this character. I just hope they produce a Getter Dragon. Him, I know! Do yourself a favor and go watch all the classic SR Animes from the 70's and work your way up to today, watch in the original Japanese with subs if possible. If your first exposure to SR's is Force Five or Tranzor Z you really need to watch it how the creators meant it to be shown and not edited for NA kids and worried parents. The history of say the Getters or Mazingers is deep and rich which explains why almost 40 years later we are still getting product from these franchises along with many others from that time period. We didn't have Force Five, Tranzor Z or any Super Robot anime in the Philadelphia viewing area. My only exposure to them was through the Shogun Warrior Jumbos from my childhood, the smaller metal versions of the Shoguns that my brothers would get after I had outgrown toys & the Herb Trimpe drawn Marvel Comics Group book. We used our imaginations and created our own stories for them as we had no reference anime. Thus, I am only nostalgic for collectibles that depict the jumbo Shogun Warriors I loved as a child. I've watched some of the anime on YouTube and...it's OK. I probably would have been thrilled to watch it as a kid. It does make me crazy that outside of the US, Getter Dragon doesn't seem to be one of the most popular Super Robots!

Getter Robo G (Dragon/Liger/Poseidon) is popular actually, if you follow the anime and manga (has a big role in Getter manga lore). Just less so than the original Getter, as a sequel robot. Same fate with Great Mazinger always overshadowed by Mazinger Z.

I’d love Dragon, Liger & Poseidon to get a CCS toys treatment…as well as Shin getter 2&3 as well. That would make my heart sing even if it makes my wallet cry hahahaha

I don't collect Mazinger Z stuff at all but Grat Mazinger is my absolute favorite!

Mazinger Z is the original super robot from the Go Nagai universe so most people have a soft spot for him over Great Maz. It’s more a nostalgic situation I think. But you’re right the design is much better in the Great Mazinger.

In the case of Mazinger Z, it has a lot to do with the characters and stories. Mazinger stories almost always center around Kabuto Koji, his family, and his battles against the bad guys. Tetsuya Tsurugi is more of a side guy that became the protagonist of the old sequel anime. But anytime there is a new manga, new show, a new Mazinger (Mazinkaiser), Kabuto Koji is usually the main and they became new chapters of his story. Same in Mazinger Zero. Mazinger Z is just a lot more iconic, and the beginning of a genre of anime robot with a pilot in it, regardless Great Mazinger does look a little cooler (but Mazinger Z being ugly?! Come on now).
Can't judge a book by its cover with little to no context in this case, I suppose.

i know we have different tastes and all but saying Great Mazinger is beautiful while Mazinger z is ugly is nonsense
they are the same thing but with different changes here and there
not to mention the popularity Mazinger z span for 92 episodes, while Great for 52 episodes and it couldn't keep the show going they had to put Mazinger z in it, in order to get more views
another point figures wise Mazinger always get the upper hand and more reissues than Great Mazinger
for me i love them both and i love most of Super Robot

How is the new version so much cheaper? Is the size or diecast metal amount smaller than the original release?

I was going to pass on this. I have the original CCS release, the Black CCS version, and other Shin Getters. But $200 for a 10 inch figure from CCS seems like a steal.

Deposit down. So far I've been impressed with CCS releases. Each time gets better.

I have the original CCS shin getter but looking at this version makes me want this one too. The one thing I always thought about the original since gettting it, is that the red paint on it seemed a little bland. This metallic color version looks awesome. Just curious if the color is significantly different on this one or if it’s just the photos tricking my eyes.
Also correct me if I’m wrong, but another thing that seems a lot different between this one and the original, is the color of the light up feature. Seems this one is more accurate with the getter ray green color where the original was more blueish.
If both of these things are found to be true, and given the great price tag, I’m gonna have to pull the trigger on it.

How is the new version so much cheaper? Is the size or diecast metal amount smaller than the original release? Quite likely they omitted some accessories, and possibly the display stand. Cater more to people already own previous versions, but want the improvements. Smart move, if you ask me.

From what I can tell this will only come with the Getter Tomahawk to replicated EP3 of Armageddon from the looks of it

From what I can tell this will only come with the Getter Tomahawk to replicated EP3 of Armageddon from the looks of it Have a feeling it is more inspired by the finale episode, when Shin 1 got the energy from Shin Dragon and used the tomahawk to slice through planets, aka "Star Slasher ver."
