I haven’t seen that much “metal action” (haha) since Aoshima….
It’s awesome just for the sheer amount of metal in him.

What are the odds that Action Toys, Pose+ or Bandai make Daikengo? I know ET is known for making the more obscure super robots, but I feel Bandai should have released this guy around the same time frame that they released Zambot 3, Daitarn 3, and Tryder G7.
While I appreciate ET's attempt and offering for Daikengo, I'm just a little weary on paying that much for a toy from especially them since their quality is hit or miss. The aesthetics look very plane to me and the paint applications are average at best. I'm on the fence on preordering this guy as it truly might be the only modern chogokin toy we get of him. And he is a missing gap in many of our modern super robots collections

Yeah the other brands besides Bandai have very long prototype to production and ship final product date like this Daikengo. It kept getting pushed back every month. New Pose+ release seem like once a year now.
Personally my want list is very small now and my display capacity is at its peak. Pose+ is definitely fulfilling my want list. With this pandemic going still with previous work lockdowns and shortages of everything it doesn’t help either.
So yeah I preordered my copy last year even though paint finish isn’t that great. It could be years before another company makes Daikengo. I mean we see very little Mechander Robo.I just get it in case instead of paying some high mark up later. I have vintage copy so I want modern version of Daikengo.

Ok, I gave in. I ordered my Daikengo through HLJ. They are expecting to receive it in stock in 3-5 days.
I am hoping the quality will be good like how their Future Quest Getter Robo (Getter 1) figure was. Fingers crossed on this one.

The first in hand video reviews of this Super Metal Action Daikengo are starting to appear on YouTube. (This one is in Italian language.)
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to understand the video to determine if he talked about the build quality. But just from first observations from the clip, the figure looks nice and heavy.

My native language is spanish, Italian is similar, so I can understand a bit. Only watched the part where he shows the figure ( the first minutes he says the only difference betwen the two releases is the grey and white almost). when showing the figure he talks about a defect behind (could not see what it is), also be careful lifting it cause it weights a lot (he says something obvious, dont lift it from the head hahaha). Then he defends ET (he says many people says ET is sh*t, since the handle things badly then when it breaks, they complain about it, also dont let children plays with this hahaha). he is not a good reviewer but he is very enthusiastic. Seems he likes it...

ET is hit or miss. While some are ok (Mekanda Robo) some are disappointments (Laserion, ugh). Please let us know your thoughts. I’m on the fence about buying this figure since it’s a $400+ shipped one.

Thanks for the link to that thread!! These natural poses with the elbows facing forward and slightly bent really make it look good. Most of the stock poses from ET were too stiff. Wow! I'm looking forward to this now! I'd love to see this displayed next to SOC Daitarn 3, Zambot 3 and Tryder G7!! P.S. Thank you for the translation up above bocasas !!

This looks better than I imagined! Wotafa uploaded his review.
I can only understand 20% of what he's saying from my 3 years of Japanese from high school. lol But looks like this figure is going to end up being pretty good except for the way the shoulders fit into the upper torso which looks a bit weak/loose.

Just opened mine. So awesome - so much metal - so much fun. Be careful when messing around with the face changing gimmick. His mask splits open and slides back into his cowl (just like in the cartoon - again, so awesome) revealing whatever face plate expression you’ve established. However, if you want to change the face plate, you need to slide his face mask sections back only halfway so that they’re partially covering the face plate. The face plate won’t disengage unless you have his mask halfway retracted. Not sure how the mechanism is constructed but it is unintuitive. Works fine but it’s tricky.

Thanks for the advice about the face plate! I read on Gokin.it that this piece is 60% diecast metal! This definitely has some heft to it! When Wotafa weighed his in mother ship Daiken Base mode in his video review, it weighed 1692 grams/3.73 lbs! Here are a couple of shots where Wotafa compares Daikengo next to other gokins. He really looks great next to GX-65 Daitarn 3.
