i already mentioned the size, but another point regarding the size and weight, there is myth going on which is (heavier + bigger = better) not always not so much, why a huge Mazinger fan like me didn't get the Heavy Metal Zero version ? because its more of a statue its dead heavy and you need to be %100 sure how you pose it or you will stress the joints, i have the Heavy Metal T28 and its very similar to Maz Zero,
back to this figure, the design and the sculpt are very close to the SOC, its not a bad thing, its just hardly different, like i said SOC V1.5 complex engineering ? what are you talking about man ? this is Voltron 1 lion insert his limbs in other lions rare ends and boom a robot, very few areas that they need to pay attention to, we are not talking about Combattler V, Dairugger or Dancouga, Voltron use way less anime magic, so complex engineering is not the right term here
for the accessories the cool stand for the lions + the pilots, we saw the rest before
at the end dont get me wrong the figure looks good but the price is not so much, specially there is other cheaper alternative which is not necessary bad
im happy with the SOC
I actually just mentioned above as a joke to another poster that if I wanted to maximize value by weight that you should just buy gold. Of course weight isn't everything, but I was tying into my point about it being a bigger figure not just in height, and how that might make designing the figure more difficult, especially since they're making it even more articulate than the SOC. You can't just scale up a figure as it is with no changes. And even for a simple combiner like Voltron at such a size you have to be careful. I'm not disagreeing about it being overpriced, just that it's not something that you can release for $400, especially when considering the expensive Voltron license.

For $699 USD...I think you can almost go after a vintage Golion in pretty decent condition.

Bluefin posted this on their FB page so I wonder if they will be a distributor?

It’s good to hear that. Hope Sideshow carries it too. BBTS too.
Maybe I can save few pennies on shipping from someone.

you just touched a very good point which the license, since we are an end users we dont know about this, did increased ? did decreased ? no clear answer
but since Bandai was able to reissue the GX71 two times maybe just maybe its not as high as we think
at the moment the market is full with Voltrons from $30 up to $300
so its understandable if some passes on this

Thanks for the size comparison, -! Well, clearly this fills the modern 'DX' Voltron void in the most spectacular of ways. An instant preorder if there ever was one. This and an eventual modern 'ST' release would be the icing on the cake.

I get it though, this iteration is larger and seems to have some neat features. Not hating the project as it's impressive but just pointing out that this is a pretty hefty price.

Hmmm, maybe not on your end, but here (Philippines) it even reached the USD800 mark. Close to USD900 actually based on current conversion rate. But it still got sold out, lolz

This is actual going price at eBay around $500 I'm expecting this price to be crushing down to dust once da new king is around the town I would be personally surprised if that happened. While this iteration is again, impressive, as a collector, I'm not particularly jumping up and down on the light-up features and prefer gokin toys of this ilk to be completely electronic-free. I am pretty sure I'm not the only one.

$700 for the left, and $500 for the right Which one would you buy? It's as simple as that. $700 is crazy expensive, but so are $500. This is not some kind of basic commodity, if someone can afford $500 for a robot toy, they can too with $700. And, in the gokin scene, people tend to keep only the best version of each robots, so only what's considered the best rendition of character at the time will sell for a jacked up price. Because that's what everyone wants. See how Sentinel Mazinkaiser sells for a ridiculous price, while SOC is still at its original MRRP? And it will only last until a better version is available. For example, GX-50 Combattler V used to sell for $500 at eBay before the arrival of DX version, the most recent sales at eBay marked around $200.

I don't know about giving GX-71 a $500 price tag is a fair comparison, when it is being reissued at $350 or less coming out in a couple months.

On sort of a related note, this upcoming 'Soul of Animal' GX GoKitten is just what the world needs to complement a $700 DX-like GoLion, lol!

Aw that compare pic looks awesome….proportion is superior too.
I can see my SOC Voltron might need that diecast thigh extender….now if the seller had a neck extender too.

Just found it on Bid Toys' own webshop at around $70+ shipped. A little cheaper than BBTS ($79.99 + tax). bidtoys.store

That's good point, and it is actually the case with the SOC Voltes. However, it still tells what it is worth in the market place. People are winning about the price, but market thinks differently, because when it comes to a Gokin toy like this, it's not just the size or weight that determines its fair value.
