Well cheaper than I thought I would be seeing how much they are charging lately. I'm not interested but I recognize this will be a cool release. Dx level.

Overall dimension of this toy is more than double the SOC, and with its more complex engineering and LED gimmicks, this definitely is well worth its asking price.

mighty impressive. this not only is the most good looking Voltron ever made, but also the most poseable combiner up to date, even beating a lot of Gundam stuffs.

SOC weights 1.4kg and this weights 2.3kg which is about 60% more weight. If they were in same size, this Voltron would weigh about 80% of the SOC. When toy gets bigger they increase the use of lighter materials to balance things out, because durability of materials don't double when their size becomes double. For comparison, DX SOC Voltes V is well over 3 times the dimension of smaller SOC, but it weights only twice as much, which makes it about 60% of the regular SOC if they were in same size. So, 80% is not bad at all.

other than the size and the LED,s i dont think this figure have much going on for that WORTH the price for me it feels like the GX-71 version 1.5 also why the blazing sword and the shield looks very small comparing to the figure ?
Yeah, wth. The sword and shield look like they would fit the soc. Too small, I think. Still want this

I bet Bandai counters with a DX Golion I'll buy that, too!

I love Voltron but not enough to pay that much for another figure.....

On the other hand, I don't love Voltron enough to need a 'DX'. The SOC is more than competent to fill the spot.

I'm also ok with the SOC, but I recognize this is a cool release and can understand why voltron fans are so excited about it. Ill watch the pics here and reviews when it comes out.

Oh, for sure. No doubt this is a great piece, and quite possibly the best Voltron gokin we'll ever get, if executed well. It may well be the flagship release that will make Carbotix (a niche line even among us) into a renown toy brand worldwide from here on.

Yep, I'm pretty sure this will do for Carbotix what the riobot Mazinkaiser did for the Riobot line.

It's more than 30% taller, and the design is a good deal bulkier. Sculpting seems sharper and it has more complex engineering and gimmicks, as well as more accessories. It also weights almost double the SOC, and is heavier than even the DX Combattler. $700 is a lot but I can understand why it's much more expensive than the SOC. Maybe $500-$600 would be more fair, as unlike the DX line this doesn't feature any licensed songs, voice lines, or sound effects. However you raise a good point about how small the sword and shield are.
i already mentioned the size, but another point regarding the size and weight, there is myth going on which is (heavier + bigger = better) not always not so much, why a huge Mazinger fan like me didn't get the Heavy Metal Zero version ? because its more of a statue its dead heavy and you need to be %100 sure how you pose it or you will stress the joints, i have the Heavy Metal T28 and its very similar to Maz Zero,
back to this figure, the design and the sculpt are very close to the SOC, its not a bad thing, its just hardly different, like i said SOC V1.5
complex engineering ? what are you talking about man ? this is Voltron 1 lion insert his limbs in other lions rare ends and boom a robot, very few areas that they need to pay attention to, we are not talking about Combattler V, Dairugger or Dancouga, Voltron use way less anime magic, so complex engineering is not the right term here
for the accessories the cool stand for the lions + the pilots, we saw the rest before
at the end dont get me wrong the figure looks good but the price is not so much, specially there is other cheaper alternative which is not necessary bad
im happy with the SOC

I gotta say I still like the SOC lion limbs more in terms of look and shape, looks a bit more classy (aside not hiding the chrome legs). But everything on the black lion loses to Carbotix. Head sculpt, articulation, combined proportions, the unnecessary wide upper chest and short hip. SOC need a GX-71X Black Lion renewal!

Really nice to see other companies stepping up and producing mainstream licenses, giving Bandai some good competition About the price, think of it this way. SOC Golion scalpers/hoarders/whatever will think twice about selling their stuff for 600 to 700 bucks now that there's a better alternative for the same amount. Bigger too. Heh, probably one of the reasons why Bandai started jacking up prices... cuz people still get them
