Interesting they are really going for the Gattaigar aesthetics.  From what I recall the person who is spear heading this Project said it will borrow elements from the OTA Manga, Mazinger Angels (Blue Haired Sayaka) & Gattaiger along the lines for this so hopefully it turns out fine in the long run  |

I must say I'm not totally into what they did with the grendizer design but I really dig (specially earth spacer hahaha) the spacers.

Godzilla fans have no say in this, you must be a true Grendizer fan, with at least 6 figures and you MUST have a Fleedian citizenship 
the Spazers looks dead ugly to me and they are mimicking other designs
for example the Double Spazer went from a beautiful swan to Beaky Buzzard from Looney Toon
the Marine Spazers looks like big shooter from Jeeg
and finally the drill looks like Magnetman Minus and Magnetman Plus from Gakeen
still will wait to watch and then judge it  |

Hahaha I've been a grendizer fan as far as I'm a goji fan. Since the 80s (born 1984). And yes I like what they did with the spacers. I get you are on the fence with this one since it's your favorite mecha (I'm guessing  ), but give it a chance, watch the whole show and then decide. |

Guess will wait & see how it goes but from few friends I talked to it's mostly a Meh to them (not really a Surprise ). Feels like this want's to achieve something else with thing incarnation (looks like it will follow OTA Manga content & few UFO Wars + Toei Grendizer Elements). Mazinger Z in this Trailer looks like it will be shafted hard..... but what really annoys me is no Great Mazinger (Again)
on a serious note hope it does well tbh. |

Grendizer indeed is among my top 3 Mechas easily but my personal favorite is Mazinger z
and yes im just glad we are getting remake for those classics hopefully it will be worth it not another Giga

i agree but thing is with Great Mazinger it suffers badly from Mazinger z been the first
you know in every release you find Mazinger z first then Great Mazinger so some of its thunder break is stolen by his bigger brother
the only case that feeling wasnt there is when they release the SRC Mazinger and Great in the same time the wow factor was equal

The only reason you're not getting Great is cause Go Nagai forgot Z has an upgrade But as I said it's like they did with Shin Z & honestly if this is borrowing from the OTA Manga it's likely Tetsuya is dead. Cause let's be real if Great was around it would likely support it's Mazinger Brother in all honesty (The Great vs Grendizer collab prove that Mazinger units could fight alien forces).

Great Mazinger is not as popular as Mazinger z so the lion share will always goes for Mazinger
on top of that when they rebuild Mazinger z after the show ended they used the New Chogokin Z (same materials as Great Mazinger) also the power output was increased to almost match Great
so the upgrade term went through the window lol
and yes i agree with you, Mazin robots could destroy the Vegan's army

i saw couple of pages from the manga, im not thrilled so far, reusing some character and chaining them from evil to good or good to evil, for me its not good idea overall

The Manga feels like poor way to introduce someone to the IP from what I saw ......
If the Anime is gonna follow this all I see at best it will get hype until it concludes (See stuff like Bravern and you'll get the idea)

I think the bigger problem is the asthetic visual style of the show ! this what concerns me the most!
Duke design is just ... meh ... and I don't like that Grendizer is done in 3D! why not 2D like SKL or Lagann

Duke design is just ... meh ... and I don't like that Grendizer is done in 3D! why not 2D like SKL or Lagann Unfortunately everyone is shifting to 3D now, though animes like Bravern show it can be done well. And regarding your two examples, I don't know if they're they good. SKL was cheaply animated, and the few good animations were stock footage that got recycled so much. We didn't realize it at the time but Gurren Lagann was the swan song of Gainax, which were one of the best animation studios of all time. |
